Default clod servo question

i am new to the clod scene, but ive been in rc for a long time. Anyways....i picked up a old school clod with the sassy chassis, 4 link...etc. it has servos on both axles and i put a evx with 2 titans in the truck for now. i ordered some tires, 2 65 turn integy motors and a couple other things. my questions is i have 1 1/4 servo on one end and a regular servo on the other. the 1/4 scale futaba servo broke the first time out. should i replace it with another 1/4 scale servo or go with a high torque smaller servo? Ive heard that the 1/4 scale servos can damage esc's and run the batterys down faster. Any info on this is greatly appreciated.

I just installed a hitec 805BB on the rear of my hustler and I love it. you can't beat the deal $40 for 343 oz. of torque. A standard servo with that much torque would cost you over $100.

have you experienced any issues with your esc with the 1/4 scale servo? i wasnt sure if they put more load on the esc vs a standard serve.

The 805 will not run off of the ESC nor will most high torque servos. But its no big deal just install a CC bec.

i didnt have any issues with the old 1/4 scale futaba before it broke, but im just going to pick up a hitec 645mg for both ends. I just need to make a adapter plate for the front. That shouldnt be too hard though. I appreciate all the help.

well bruiser is right, for any good quality servo you really should run a bec. The servos will perform better.

i run the hitec 645 mg with an external BEC and it works great!! that sounds like a good plan. a BEC is a "battery eliminator circuit". you use it to give more power to ur rx instead of using a second battery pack to power ur rx.
