Default starting my clod, need some help

Ok guys, i am going to start building my first clod soon, and i have some questions, that i couldnt find the answer to while searching.
Well, i am plannign on building my own chassis and suspension links. I think i would like to do the 4 link suspension, if i am correct that is the type with 4 links in the front and 4 in the back, correct? I need to know how long i should make all the links, if i would like a 16in WB, and what i should use to make the links, what thickness, what to tap the threads at, hwo far to tap in, and all that stuff i need to know to make the links. Also what i need to buy for the links, like rod ends i think and stuff? Also id like to know all this stuff about the steering links for a 4WS setup. Im pretty sure once i get the links made i can go from there, and shouldnt have to much of a hard time makeing the chassis. If this should be in the newbie forum just let me know and i will move it there. But my main concern is the specs on the tubing.

thnx a ton

if your buying clod axles ... get the set that comes with steering kits so you dont have to build those yourself.

im building a chassis with a lower link mounting hole distance of 38mm (1.5 inch) or 50mm (approx 2 inches), i havent started cutting it. it would be best to make one with multiple mounting holes and then test the setup to find the best configuration. my top links holes are about 40mm above the lower link holes, note that my chassis is only 2 inches high.

my lower link rods are 6mm thick and 155mm long, the top link rods 150mm, you can actually use the same lengths for all and just adjust the mounting holes in the chassis. you can use aluminum 6061 T6 grade, it is tougher to handle though, you could try ordinary aluminum then later on upgrade to a tougher grade. i drilled them 1/2 inch deep using 2.5mm drill bit and tapped them using a M3 hand tapper (3mm tapping screw). tip: use a drill press. i used tamiya ball ends (black) and used 1 inch screws to attach them with a M3 nuts on both ends.

I found that a local alloy shop will sell you a length of 6061 cheeper then the ones you can get at a hobbie shop!!
