Default Ackerman angle FIXED

This is a problem clod and TXT axles have. What it does is cause the knuckles to turn at differnt rates, with a common BTA steering setup the outside tire will turn about 20 degres less than the inside tire, or one tire will turn 45 degres and the other only 25 Well after bitching about it for over a year I finally did something about it

the pices i made to get zero ackerman

on the knuckle

Here you can see the 17 degrees more steering my clod has with a zero ackerman angle

pic of my brothers clod with stock ackerman and mine

very nice! i sure with knuckles would be made like this for clods, TLTs, axials etc... ive never liked how the knuckle design delivers a ****ed up ackerman.

You cant quite make it to zero on a berg but with a little shorter arm its dam close

I may not be the only one confused here. Won't the inside tire be "forced" through the turn, instead of both tires following the same center point through the turn? At this point, I'm thinking that at such low speeds, almost zero or zero Ackerman won't effect the handling, but make the turning faster.

with a locked front differential the inside tire would typically be forced anyway. maybe not dragged side to side like it would be with different steering angles, but forced none the less.

Yes the inside tire will be forced to slip, when anything with 4 wheels turns the outside tire has the most contact pressure ,the tire with the least pressure is most likely to slip and with a locked diff even more so.

For both tires to follow a same center point they would have to turn at differnt speeds since the inside circle is smaller that the outside. With a locked diff the inside tire will push until the outside tire has enough traction to let it slip so it can turn

the second pic on this thread shows where the hole should be after the part i made is installed

prolly wont work on a 2.2 unless you change wheel offset.

Default Heres to you Mr MiniWheeler fix it guy

Job well done fixing the ackerman issue. You saw an age old problem and took action to fix it. Posted your results and informed a manufacturer on how to correct it. Outstanding work. IMO, this turkey day goes to you my friend.

No ,I dont know what youre talking about. I thought this was more like a look how much better a clod can steer with a zero ackerman and why would i try to sell a part that bolted on to another part that JP sells and could easly change

Use the ideas from this board to come up with some of youre own and then build a crawler not just bolt one togather
