Hi. I watched some videos in the vid section and I think i like clods more than txt-1s. I think clods look better and it seems like they are able to perform as good if not better than txt-1's with some mods. This will be my first crawler ever, btw. So Im in the market for a clod chassis. Im leaning towards a Gecko chassis just because of their popularity but is there a better option? This clod will be used for rock-crawling only. Im not going to be crawling in competitions, just by myself. What would u suggest? What is the best chassis for the money? Also, would I be better off starting a clod project off from scratch (like buying axles for 150) or should i just pick up a clod kit for 210? Are there parts besides the axles in the clodbuster kit that I will need to use for my build-up? Thanks for any help.

If you're not gonna use the stock clod tires and wheels and the stock motors then just buy the axles by themselves. As far as chassis's, I couldn't tell you, I've built my own.

I was in the same boat as you recently I ended up going with the TTS-XC chassis and Im glad I did. It is awesome ! I placed 3rd and 1st in my 1st comp with it ! Here is a link to the build up shots of my crawler --> New Aussie Rig ! It was built by 'clodossal' of this board ;) Hope that helps Dan

I've got a Gecko II and it's great. But I don't think I would buy one again. I need a servo mount and they won't sell one. Have to buy another steering kit. Or build one they say after waiting a week for a reply. So if you need anything in the future for a Gecko, I guess your screwed for company support!

I bought an entire kit. Tell ya why.. You can find them online for $179 and the Clod hardbody is worth a fair amount of money. I actually haven't gotten around to it yet, but I figure I can get $50 for the leftover parts from what I've seen on ebay. Brings it down to $130 and I've got a spare set of wheels/tires too(albeit crappy tires). I have the CMR CX2 and I like it. But like I said in my other post, this 60/40 thing is getting my attention. -Jay

Again different terrain might mean a different length may be better, so there is no magic number really. I can now recommend looking at The Cralwer Store's NN chassis. $150. http://www.thecrawlerstore.com/NN
