do you need axle stiffeners?

when running aluminum axle shafts do you still need to use the diagonal axle stiffeners? is there any strength gain or loss by or by not using them?

If you run the aluminum axle tubes, but still use the stock plastic case, leaving off the angled braces can transfer a lot of stress through the 4 bolts mounting the tube to the case.

I havent had any problems with my setup (of course, I am only running 2.2's):

I'd still run the braces, or brace. (depends if you have a servo mount that replaces the one brace) You could possibily break the plastic gearcase housing, but I imagine it would hold up reasonably well, as long is didn't get knocked around really hard, like taking a tumble down a hill. I have full metal cases and I still run the braces. Sometimes they are handy for servo mounts and electronic/battery mounting plates.

Agree. I would run them to be safe, otherwise you might be replacing the center pumpkin
