| "The Punk Rock Crawling" Super build!
This is the start to the "The Punk Rock Crawling Dual Steering Computer" Super build I sent them a request for one of their "Dual/Dig computers" and said I would do a build around the computer. The advantage to using the Punk Rock computer is that it gives Dual Steering and Rear Lockout Control on the Fly! Also, the units are re-programmable, so if they ever come out with a new firmware, you can order a new CPU “brain” and swap it out yourself or ship your item back and have it re-programmed The best part about this computer is that you don't need a 4-6 channel TX to have 4 wheel steering and dig with a MOA rig! This does it for you! It basically adds other channels to your RX for you. So you guys with Traxxas TQ3's and guys with other 3 channel TX's this is your ticket I will be using the following...... DX3r TX SR3000 RX Punk RC Steering/Dig Computer X2, Mamba Max ESC Holmes Hobbies TorqueMaster's JR8711 Servo's front/rear X2 3cell lipos (Still need to get them for this build) Maybe someone will Sponsor me....cough, cough!) Castle BEC x2 TCS "NN" Carbon Fiber super chassis Clod axles Integy aluminum HD Castors Integy aluminum steering blocks RC4WD 3/4" Wheel wideners Crawford Perf. Eng. Diff Locker kit RC4WD Adjustable motor mounts RC4WD Steel Axle's Aluminum shocks running droop Losi Grappler body Tires and wheels done by JIA.... Here is where it is so far |

Good lookin build. Those punk rc units take some time to get used to. I still need to get mine dialed in. Spend a lot of time watchin the lights to see what mode I'm in. Curious to see what ya think about it.

Good looking crawler, so far. I've always liked the NN carbon chassis. Very nice. I see you are running a droop set-up to. It'll be interesting to see how that works. How much do the Punk RC units cost?

Picked up some JR servos, Castle BEC, some bullet connectors for the motors (Went with Novak 55-50's instead), and some aluminum servo horns to work on tonight! Picts will be up later;) I went with the Novak's to help with cost. I'm already over $1200 and counting |

Now for the fun part of wiring everything up and doing it clean! I hate builds that have wires everywhere that look like crap! So here we go.......2 Mambas, 2 Novak 55-50's, 2 Castle BEC's, 2 JR servos, 1 Punk RC Computer, 1 RX, and 2 Lipo's! Let the fun begin |

Is that a rear steer only computer? Ive got a rear steer + dig model. Has more leads. You can hook up 2 esc's for dig and have rear steer all with a 3 channel radio. Theres no need to send the computer in for programming. Just hook it up using the serial port on your PC and download the firmwares from Punk Rc website. Theres even a program to control a winch for the scale guys. It really is a versatile piece of hardware. Worth every penny.

It's always fun to "Bling" it out then go trash it! I hooked up the Punk RC computer before I installed everything. This is one crazy little hook-up! I'm still learning how to use it fully but from what I've done so far it's amazing! I'm trying 2 things here. First I'm using it on a DX3R as most everyone else will use it will a 3 channel RX. This is what Punk really intended it for I believe. I also want to try it on my DX6i and see how it can be played with as well. That's what I'm doing tonight. I'm going to see about getting one more Punk Comp. to see what all I can do with it on the RRR Scaler build also. Only thing really left one the Super build is paint and programming.......I'm thinking about something like this as a theme |
