First Clod Build...

Hey Folks! Finally got the ol girl back together and functional. I came across an old box of RC stuff in the basement about a month ago (been out of the hobby for better than 10 years) and it gave me the itch. Was into stadium trucks, but from the time I had my first blackfoot, I had always wanted a Clod. So I found a stocker on the Bay, and a month later here I am. Figured for my first one, it would just be easier to go with the all inclusive CPE Evo kit. Its just a basher, but its been a good time so far.

I think my next mission, will be to put in my new rear servo, get and paint a new, better fitting, less chevy body for it, a pair of Fantom 35T Rhino motors, and a set of alum. lower link shock mounts. (the plastic ones blow) Ohh, and lock the diffs which I havent gotten around to yet. :-(

Just an update..

Well, a few months later, and I've managed to lock the diffs, thow on a pair of alum. tubes to replace the one I cracked, new motors, tires, wheels and adapters. Ohh, and I wrecked the body a little more... I guess its time to get a new one finally, although, I kinda dig the look. "thumbsup"

Great to see another Clod get new life breathed into it. The Clod is just so enduring and appears to be getting stronger with each passing year.

And your Clod is looking great. Keep up the work and keep us posted of your progress.

what happened to the body and that sweet chevy grill?

Was doing a little snow pile wheelin, and it took a tumble on the shiny side. After a few attempts at righting it onto all 4, it finally came over with a little less body. Suppose I should hurry up and get this Ford body painted...

Nice build. I got the same chassis for my old clod so I could bring it back to life although I have been having some trouble with the mounting hardware. The bolt that connects my upper 4 link mounts to the axle seem to be too short. Could one of you guys take a close up pic of your setup so I can see if I am maybe doing something wrong? I have checked the CPE website but they don't show any pics of the assembled chassis.

looks good. I just took my JPS Clod out and been trying to get it running again.

Just another update. Got a new skin for it finally. Also just picked up a new set of alum. lower shock mounts, a set of high clearance links for it, and a pair of alum. axle tubes for the front. I just need to think of something to do with the rims...

That body is great. Love the cracked windshield. I have the same patina theme on my original Clod body. Yeah, the Pro-line wheels are too much bling for my taste. I went with the black Rocksters, and I'm pretty happy with them. I don't think they make baby-moons is a 40-series though........lol.

Maybe do something to the rims to mtch the body. They look a little to shiny.

OIIIIIIIO 06-07-2009 10:50 PM

I may attempt to paint the rims a flat red, and the rings black. I love the thought of little baby moons for it, but Ive been racking my brain for something to fit the bill, and nothing has come to mind yet...

Great thread!

Its cool to see the progress youve made from the begining on it...

That is one great looking paint job. "thumbsup""thumbsup""thumbsup"

I am very much impressed. Love the way you did the body ageing and especially the windshield.
