When you say clod steering blocks do you mean the axle tube? Or the Knuckle?

I keep breaking the stock steering knuckle/block right where the steering links connect, and am thinking of going to aluminum....can I just replace the plastic one with a alum. one? If I get an alum one do I need any other parts? bearings?
