here is a description of how the stick design works: There’s something new on the horizon……………… there really isn't a reason to do a traditional 4 link with the stick. The elimination of 4 total links is a good thing.

Hey mate were in Oz are you from. I bought a stick off Kevin and highly reccomend it , and Kevins service is top class. The postage to OZ was bugger all since the stick weighs next to nothing. If your going to build your own stick i wouldn't change Kevins design too much and forget about four shocks .If you see this thing crawl it does the nearly impossible . Your welcome to come to our VRRC crawler comps if your in Victoria to check out the stick crawling , it's design and how the chassis works.Guys come down from other states and we go to interstate comps as well. We just held the VRRC September comp on the weekend and the stick took out it's first win . This was my third ever comp with any type of crawler so my driving is not up to scratch but the stick makes my driving look alot better than what it is. You can go to http://www.rcmadhouse.com/MadForum/index.php for more info on OZ crawling and when comps are being held.

yeh my biggest problem im i dont have a credit card to pay for things and i dont have a lot of money to start off with ( apprentice) and i have access to material for next to nothing just a hell of alot cheaper and more fun to make it my self yer i just joined rc mad house the other day im over on outerlimits too but another name but getting back on topic i under stand how the shock thing works but i see it has lower links does it use upper links or just lower links and 1 shock i though it would need a third link to stop the axle rotating i can see a third link in some of the pics but looks more like a plastic end peice to the rod if thats it, how does that link work just rotates on the end of the chassis ???? i just thought of my own way of doing this but it may not work as well if any one can understand my bable and can help any help would be great cheers elliot Last edited by gobble_doc; 09-06-2005 at 06:17 AM.

building your own truck is very satisfying. It does have an upper link, it's the backbone/chassis. Think of it as doing the same job as a set of top links in a 4 link design. Yes, it just rotates at the end of the backbone on a heim joint (large rod end).

There is no up or down travel in this desing, just articulation. Thats why the axles pivot around the fixed top link.

As I twist my Stick, the link pulls the axle inboard a small amount. Which would make the bearing bind.

I just twisted my stick to see. EeePee is correct a bearing would bind , you need to use the heim joint if not something very similar/ | |

How about if you use the bearing and got rid of the other links? You'd need a really really strong mounting point on the axle though.
