Default My CPE Claw build

I had this chassis sitting around for a while, but never got around to building it. I thought it was time to finally start the build. Here is a list of what I have so far.

CPE Claw 50/50 chassis
CPE servo mounts and steering links
Proline eight shooter 3.2 beadlocks
HPI Super Mudders
Full ball bearings all away around

Here is a list of what I still need
23mm wheel adapters
2 rooster esc's and fifty five motors
4 channel stick radio.

Looking good, i love mine, i can however recommend and inexpensive but neccesary fix for the over flexing at times when the tires get bound up, check it out, it's just a small piece of metal used as a brace, it will prevent the rig from trying to fold on itself when bound up in a tough spot.
simple cpe claw mod

Other than that, this chassis is awesome

Thanks for the link. I have been following your post and seen the vids you have posted. I am going to be very happy with this chassis. I own 6 CPE chassis and have not been dissapionted by any of Bretts' products. Great price and great quality and great service. It just don't get better than that

I think I am going to ditch the 4 channel stick radio and buy one of the clodmod racing computers so I can use my existing Futaba 3pk. This will give me full sterring and dig options with out having to spend money on another radio and receiver.

Update!! I finally finished the build. Here are the specs. Just need to lay out the wiring a little better.

2 Novak rooster esc's
2 Novak Fifty Five motors
2 Hobbico cs170 servos
Proline beadlock wheels
HPI Supper Mudder tires.
CPE diff lockers
Acer bearings

I seem to have a problem with getting power to rear wheels. It seems like the rear wheels are getting less power than the front. I'm not sure if clod stall is the problem or not since this happens when you lift the truck in the air and give it throttle and the wheels are not under any load. Any idea on what the problem could be. Thanks!!!

Great looking rig and build. The CPE Claw chassis is neat looking.

What wheelbase are you running and how does it perform?

Thanks!!! I am running a 17 inch wheelbase. I havn't tested out on the rocks yet. I am trying to figure out what is going on with the rear motor. I pulled the motor out of the gearcase and held it while hitting the throttle and it is getting very little current to it.

Thanks!! I only been into electrics for a year and a half after a 5 year affair with nitros. . Some of this stuff is still new to me. I'm thinking that the ditital servos coulds be using a lot of the current. I might try a bec and see what happens.

Default cool claw

Nice claw. I had one a while back and had alot of fun with is. You'll find there very flexy and that can be good and bad. I ended up doing a mod I saw on here were you bolt the spring down at each edge of the chassis with a small peice of alum and a couple small bolts to help limit flex some and it helped alot for me.

Thanks!!! I took it out on the rocks yesterday and was happy with the way it handled. The only thing I need to change is the servo mounts. The axle brace mounts are fine for clods when bashing and usally are turning the wheels when you are on the throttle and no resistance. The problem I had with the axle mounts is that the servo power is absorbed when the axle braces twist when turning and the vehicle is moving at slow speed. I think RC4wd makes a mount the bolts directly to the gearcase.

I spoke with Brett at CPE and he said that the mounts I have on the claw can be mounted vertically onto the gearcase. All I need to do is drill and extra hole in the mount. I will try this and post and update when finished.
