Default Opinions wanted on steering decision

Well, Im at a crossroads of sorts. I spanked the rear servo on my rig, and Im not sure how to go about fixing it. I temporarily had a crap reversed traxxas servo back there, with a standard Y harness that Ive fragged. I'd like to put in a HS645 to match the front, or something of equal strength. Heres my options as I see it..

Option 1:
645MG for the rear, install reversing Y harness

Option 2:
645MG in the rear, reverse the motor, and the pot, try not to scrap it.

Option 3:
645MG, and buy a 3 channel receiver for my Caliber Tx, and run the rear off the Aux. channel.

Option 4:
Get a reversed servo, and just run it off my current Y harness.

What do you folks think?
-Pat

Not sure what your budget is like, but to solve the same problem on my Clod Super I bought two more Hitec HS-5465 digital servos and a HFP-10 servo programmer. The programmer also you to change lots of parameters in the servo. So, I changed the direction on one the 5465 servos and then just used a simple 'Y' plug to drive both servos.

Having the HFP-10 allows you to make some nice changes to the digital servos.

Plus, if you decide to scrap the Clod axles you can always reprogram the servo and use it somewhere else.

Yeah, that would be another way to take care of it. Sadly, at this point, its just a basher/crawler fun toy, and I don't think I want to get quite that deep into it, when there are other parts that would go further with the money.

Thanks for the idea though!

Why not option #3?

Not familiar really with your radio system, but it's a fairly cheap workaround (I would presume). Heck, you can find a traxxas tq3 system around for 20-30bux (TX/RX) and then a $2 switch and you're all set. Only reason I suggest this is I'd rather have 4 wheel steer at my discresion rather than turning in-sync with the front wheels.

Well, the caliber has a 3rd channel, Only problem is Im currently only running a 2 channel receiver. And the Aux. trim would be my adjustment, and well, its not exactly easy to use along with the trigger and wheel. If I thought I could replace the pot with a 3 way switch, I suppose I could go that route...

That servo is garbage for use in steering a clod around. You'll burn in out in a month. Buy a real servo for steering your clod. HS7995TG
