With your rear steer is there a reason you ditched the horns you had on there before? Just wondering before I buy some alum servo horns.

I have a clod that I bought new way back when they first came out that's been collecting dust for years. What kind of cost would I be looking at to replicate something like this crawling stick contraption?

I like the last pic! Thanks for the info (part #s, cost, and where) on what you used. Def worth looking at. How did you bend the backbone? Have you noticed and longterm problems? Stress cracks, fatigue of the backbone after being twisted so much, bad shock angle, etc... Basically, anything from the design you posted a pic of; is there anything you would change/have done different?

Ok, I obviously brain cramped on my question.

Next question is can you modify Kevins 'stick' and add Ricks 'hump' without ruining anything about Kevins kit?

Bending our backbone would most likely be more difficult because its hollow and may collapse. You could always try, and purchase a new backbone if you damage yours. The only other thing that would happen would be a slight reduction in wheelbase when you bend the backbone.

Cut the body!
You could either cut the fenders to allow full movement of the wheels, or cut the body in half (or a section from the middle) and glue/fasten the outer halves back together. Eventually, you'll realize you'll have to cut away more than you wanted to when you started. Its either that, or raise the body really high... And that will look cheesy.

I'm pretty sure 4RnrRick sold it. Said it took the fun out of crawling, or something like that. Don't you hate when things work too good!?

Thanks for all the comments guys..... I haven't been around here much lately and I've decided to move onto other hobbies. RC crawling is fun - but it just sucked up too much of my time this last year.....

YES, Project Xerox was Sold. I no longer have it and I forgot who I sold it to. As for performance - I like a regular 4 link front and rear setup better. They just seem more controlable to me and seem keep their line better. but you can't really beat the belly clearance of a stick type chassis. Plus I feel the 2.2 are funner to drive and typically for the terrain around here, can go farther and score higher on the same course. Just look at ORCRC points over 2005 season. you would think just the opposite would be true but its not for around here.

Bending the back bone is easy, I just bent mine with a vise and some soft jaws. as for Kevins "Stick" - I can't comment because I don't know how thin that material is, but the stuff I speced out on the first page didn't seem to buckle or crush when I was bending it. Its really pretty thick wall stuff.

The other think that you have to watch is your caster angle when you put the hump into a backbone. if you go to far it seems to kinda tweak with the caster so steering can be difficult.
