Default Re-working my CFNN

With the new rules on WB combined with running with a different club this year I have been changing up my Nationals rig some.

Here is a basic run down on the parts I am using.

Clod axles
35t lathe motors
6 tooth pinions
Dual mamba max ESC's
CVD's
XTM Thorns
Panther Plow Boy Tires/Panther Meat Grinder tires
CFNN Chassis
1/2 inch delrin links with revo rod ends
Traxxas big bore shocks.
Hitec 5990 servos
Dual Castle BEC's
DX-6
Thunder Power RC 3300mah 3cell lipo

At the 08 RCC nationals my rig was in the 18.5-18.75 WB. range and I run a TP4500mah 3cell lipo,45t motors with 7 tooth pinions,Single BEC,and 4.75 inches of ground clearance.

So now I have went shorter,lighter,lower,and faster:evil :

I started by cutting the wheelbase back to 17.5 and dropping the belly clearance down to 4 3/8 at the front of the chassis and 4.5 inches at the rear.
I then wanted to cut some weight out of the chassis so I switched from the 4500mah pack to a Pro-Power 3300mah 3 cell pack from Thunder Power RC.
Next on the to do list was to make it faster.I accomplished this by switching to 35t motors with 6tooth pinions. This made the truck faster and even made it smother with more torque in the prosses.

I was running the same length 4-link bars front and rear. After playing around I have learned that the truck will pull the front up and out of holes and undercuts with less stress and more control by running a shorter link lenght in the front than the rear. So to get the truck to drive like I wanted I ended up with about a 7 inch front link and a 7.5 inch rear link eye to eye.

Here are a few pics .
I should be able to get some outside shots over the weekend.Maybe even some video.

Longer is better!

How much weight do you run up front and do you run any out back?

Would love to know what kind of run time you're getting with 3300 Lipo and 35T motors combo. I am currently reworking my super for Lipos. Had Nimh on axles ,12v total, and moved them back into the chassis in preparation for the much lighter Lipos. Trying to find the batt/motor combo that suits my needs.

I've been running 55T motors on 3 cell 2900mAh Emoli packs (11.1V) with 8T rear and 9T front pinions. I've had problems with stalling the motors in a bind even with 6.5" tall Losi Super Kingpin tires.

Sounds like 35T's might help and maybe I should go to smaller pinions. I figured with my smaller tires the bit larger pinions would be ok but my setup has never had the punch of your Nationals setup.
Looking forward to some video Joe.

Grizz if you thank it had punch at nationals you should see it now.

I have way more wheel speed than i did with the 45t motors and the 7 tooth pinions. And the low speed control is insane.

I have been thinking of reworking my CFNN for a while it has just been sitting while I tried to get a hustler where I wanted it but... BTW this could be a stupid question but why the 2 bec's? and what weights are you running in the shocks?

I am running 30wt. and the springs that come with the 4inch HotBodies shocks.
The reason for the 2 bec's
1st I was burnning up BEC's so I swithched to two and the problem stopped .I also am not running the servos through the reciver. So I just powerd the reciver off one of the ESC's and the Y-harnessed the 2 channels for the steering with 1 BEC to each Y.

Vids are awesome !!!! Looks like your setup works really well. Thanks for all the info and showing people how a Nationals calibre super is setup. I think it's great how everyone on this site openly talks about their rigs, and don't play that super secret squirrel crap. Thankl You. Thats what makes the RCC community great.
