Default Dorkstar redux

Those who know me know that I've got an almost unhealthy obsession with Ryan Gerrish's dorkstar design . With Ryan's blessing, I've built a 2.2, a couple for the MRC, and now a super. The general design is always the same with some necessary tweaks for differences in axles (shock and link mounts mostly) as well as the lack of a driveshaft in the case of the super.

Anyways, on to the pics:

I'll get some more close-up pics of the panel tomorrow. I went with a mud splatter technique which worked out pretty good in my opinion. Still have a bit more work to do on this rig, mounting up shocks (will be 4" droop), add in the skid and driver, and then all the electronics. Also, as you can likely see, I ran out of delrin for the links, so need to pick up some more later this week. All of this is assuming I don't sell the whole thing before I get it up and running ! This seems to happen a lot with my builds.

Nice work

Ryan's Dork chassis is one of the best out there, no question.

Well, this one might have also found a new and very happy home. What great work you do.

Yep, this will be heading your way later in the week after some final work on it. Better to get it out of my hands. The longer it sits here, the more tempted I am to hold on to it !

Thanks I hope Carl (quickster47) likes it too since he officially owns it !

A few more pics, got the shock mounts done. Didn't realize until I took the photos that the one shock on the front link is mounted on the wrong side of the cable clamp .

A little too much flex for my own liking. Easily fixed with a few limiter spacers inside the shocks, but otherwise it travels through the suspension nicely.

Oh my gosh! I feel just like a new dad. Well sort of...

The work on this bad boy is just awesome and I am so proud to be the new owner.

Just want to say a great big thanks to Metal Fume Fabrication for such great work.

Few more pics with everything finished. Not the best lighting, will need to reshoot a few more after work. Otherwise, time to tear this one down and send it on its way!
