|  Sierra's Clod build
I started building a stick chassis super based crawler around a set of RC4WD Raptor 2's. As most know, these aren' the greatest axles for super based rigs running 7"+ tall tires. So I went back the the drawing board and started with a clean slate on a Clod build. So far, I've built this chassis as a start. I have some 1/32" carbon fiber that I'll make a hood, roof and side panels out of.  Electronics: 2x sidewinder ESC 2x JPCustoms Warrior 2 45t 2x Airtronics 94780M servos 1x CC BEC 1x Spektrum AR6000 for a DX6 1X Flightpower EVO 2500 3 cell |

did you cut the aluminum out yourself? if so, what did you use to do it (software and hardware)? looks great! |

Hand made It was drawn in CAD, traced on 1/8" aluminum and cut by hand with a hax saw, dremel and 4" cut-off wheel. Edges were filed off. Chassis plates took some time. After they are cut, I bolt the two together and file them down even further to match and drill the holes. |

Here's the most recent picture.  I have a few more things to do. And throughout the year, I plan on improving. However, I had it running for a few minutes and it has alot of torque and insane wheelspeed. These motors paired with an 8 or 9 tooth work really well with a 3 cell. |

That is such a great looking rig. And you have done excellent work putting it together. Do you have any planss to make some more chassis plates and perhaps selling them under the table or on the table? I would be quite interested in getting a pair of chassid plates from you. Carl |

I built the chassis around the Super Class specs. I believe minimum is 3" wide, 12" long and 3.75" in height. Body panels are sized appropriately. The total chassis width is about 3 1/4". This is the first clod based chassis I made and I plan on running it all year. However, I intend to make another. I see two things that can make this chassis even better. For one, I'll include the shock hopps as part of the paltes. Right now, I'm using shock hoops from the Junfac lift kit for the tamiya highlift. Second, I want to raise the rear end of the chassis up a bit. At full flex, and at 17.5" w.b., the motor slightly touches the back portion of th right side plate. |
