| It's time! The Dorkstar DS-2
The DS-1 is pretty beat up, and has been relatively unchanged for 2 years. It's time to build a new Super! Retiring the old girl: I'm starting with a few fun parts: - The Real Dogman's Super Delrin Hi-clearance links - Vanquish 40 Series Narrows - Refurbished Clod axles from the DS-1, with new gearbox halves - All aluminum will get anodized black - RC4wd 40 series X-locks to try out - Totally new Tube chassis. This one will be 2" or so at the skid, and boatside out to 3.5" wide at the middle, then back to narrow up top. It'll be 4" tall, and quite long. I want to the shocks to mount to the axles, since I don't want to mount them to the delrin links... I bolted the old axles to the rules at 17.8" WB. (Knowing me I'd build it at 18" and it'd be over!) I'll redo the axles once the tuber is all built. I aligned the center link mounts to keep everything square, and found a proper piece of delrin for the skid. Cut out the skid: Braced the sides with steel, which the rest of the truck will be built from. A Maxamp 4200 35C waterproof 11.1v Lipo will make it fly. The boatsides: Fast forward a bit! Coming up next- the axle teardown and rebuild, wheels and tires, body, paint, electronics..etc.etc.etc..! Thanks for looking! |

Thanks! More work: All the aluminum off the truck: And now all back from the Anodizer, BLACK! Rebuilt the axles and inspected everything. Had the chassis Nickel Coated: Links and Shocks mounted to the axles, not each other: Rings Anodized Blue: How she sits before panels, electronics and final finishing: |
