Default Monster Truck build

I just want something that looks similar to a monster truck that I can bash around with. Kind of like Stangkilla's clod he did for Audrey. The 1/6th Chevy is fun and all but I want something a little more performance oriented. Lots of power and light.

So started throwing stuff together with what I had around the shop. Here's where I'm at so far.

I love it The amount of parts that guys can dig up and throw together to get something fun to beat on never fails to amuse me. I can't let the kids see this, they'll want their trucks to look like this Would look awesome with a Midnight Pumpkin body or something old school cool like that.

yeh I'm really wanting a Digger body. I know they make this one that is for a maxx and is 1/10th. I've heard this is a good body to use.

There is also this one which is 1/8th scale.

My wheelbase is at 13". I think a local hobby shop has one of those bodies so I'm going to see which fits it best. I've heard the 1/6th scale body doesn't look good with the stock clod wheels.

Doesn't look to much different but I changed a lot.

Found out that you can put the tamiya stays under the axle brace. Looks WAY cleaner, lowers the shock mounting point and since there is a lip on the bottom of the brace the mount can't pivot.

Forced an ax10 skid to work.

Ride height is now lower. Couple more cross braces and it'll be good enough for now.

It runs! Found out as soon as I started it up that one of the titans is trash...... It was really screaming at me. I need to glue the tires too but I think they could really use foams. Clod tires usually have foam in them?

Fixed my VXL esc. Had to solder one of the motor lead connectors back onto the board. That was fun....... Servo mount turned out ok. It's a thundertech one and you're supposed to tape the servo on. Well the plate is mounted with stand offs and they don't hold the plate that well. I ended up mounting servo mounts to the plate but I'll have to redo how it mounts to the case.

Battery is mounted higher than I wanted but it didn't look to good way down by the skid since it's so big. Stock WK battery box worked nicely.

Stance seems pretty good with all the weight on it. Back springs need softened up.

Top end wasn't fast. I couldn't judge acceleration since the rims were slipping and one of the motors was trashed. I'll sort out the wheel setup and get some good motors in there and we'll see how it goes. Anyone have recommendations for motors to try? I still have the stock silver cans.

Nick wont the 12 turn 2's be good?
I really personally enjoy the Flash motors and the price is excellent for these.

They're more than I want to spend on motors. These titans I had I picked up from a guy for $10. At least one works

I think I might just throw the silver cans back in and see what they do.

Here's a video I took today just showing the speed and acceleration I'm getting. Don't pay attention to the wheels and tires. They're all I had in the shop that would bolt up and were glued.
