| The Wild Oats Clone
A long time ago my friend's wife asked if I would build a crawler for her husband. Well, it took some time to build, and then it took some time to finally get it to him but he finally recieved his christmas present last week. I wanted to keep this as close to a mini-me of his Jeep as possible so I studied all my pics of the paint and bodywork to get it as close as possible. I am really happy with how it turned out and so was he and his wife. Specs: Clod axles ClodMod Racing motor mounts 10T/9T front/rear pinions Mag Mayhem motors Traxxas Rustler Rear wheels narrowed on the inside Rckjeep's old style Rock Rings Imex 2.2 All-T tires Super Rooster Hitec HS-5945MG steering servo El Diablo chassis modified for a 14" wheelbase ThunderTech Racing upper link posts Futaba 2ch radio Proline CJ body I mixed my own paint to try and match the "Panther Pink" and the flames are "Purple Pearl". Both turned out very close to correct. I put Mag Mayhem's in this cuz if any of you know Rod he LOVES horsepower and I figured he'd get bored with the lathe motors. Hope you guys like Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 12-16-2005 at 05:11 PM. |

Very nice rig. Didn't think I would ever say that about something pink. But that is one very cool truck. The background in your pics is making me want to move. Looks like plenty of rocks to play on.

Are those the top secret Moab pics? I tried to take a picture of this rig in Moab earlier this year. Griz spotted me, gave a nod to Ace, then Ace came over and smashed my camera. |

Looks great Grizz. So, you are the one that owns Wild Oats? Is that the same Jeep that was featured in Peterson's about 10 years ago? |

Thanks for all the replies guys. Pink is definatly not a mainstream color (for 4x4's ) but on Rod's Jeep it works. Yes Fred, those are the top secret photos from Moab. Sorry about the camera. As Fred and Digler eluded to, this rig has actually been done for a long time but I did not want any pics posted in case anyone on the board knew Rod and mentioned it to him. T-man, No I do not own Wild Oats (although I have tried to get it left to me in Rod's will ) It belongs to Rod Pepper, he is a good ffriend of mine and I took the pics in his garage after giving the clone to him. It was -10 degrees that night so outside pics were out of the question. |
