Default Whats the best servo mount for clod

Im going to run front and rear steering so i'll need 2 mounts. Im running the links in front of the axle, just looking for the best mount to buy. Ive seen the vertical and horizontal ones and i would like to have it seperate from my link/shock mount. Can anyone give me some advice????

What kind of link/shock mounts are you currently using? Chassis? That would make a difference as far as what kind of mounts would work for your application. Thanks!

im currently using a stock chassis with a 4 link setup. but im moving the servos to the axles so i need the mounts. currently the shock mount is on the axle support above the tube, i want to change this mount my servo there and put a link mount down behind the knuckle for the lower link and shock...i prefer an adjustable one.
thanks

If you left everything as-is, you'd need to use a vertical servo mount to maintain clearance between the servo and lower shock mounts. Think RC4WD sells those.

If you purchase the link/shock mount bracket, that will allow you to move the shock mount off of the gearcase support, as well as mounting both the upper and lower links to that bracket. It will also increase your wheelbase around 1" as the links will now mount back away from the axle tubes. You could then use any number of servo mounts, like our CPE-SER2 mount.

The servo mount that goes from the axkle tube mount straight up is the best because it adds strength to the axle case.

like this http://www.tcscrawlers.com/Hand-Brot...r-p-16681.html

I made some servo mounts like that for my Clod an kept the steering out front.

The flat axle brace/servo mount from RC4wd is the beast setup I have found. Not sure it will clear your setup but I sure liked it on my Super.

^ +1 i had the same mounts but i think they were Integy but i switched to 1/4 scale servos. So i had to make my own vertical mounts that bolt to the axle tube bolts.

That looks good Ty-bo. Hey i see you have the alloy axles for the clod, but would this set up work for stock plastic axle tubes? I mean this requires the removal of the metal axle brace?

I actually had these mounted on the stock plastis tubes before I installed the alum ones. There is a little flex in the plastic tubes without the brace but I had only broken 2 tubes and bent 1 axle without the braces.

I bought a set of the RC4WD braces-- not crazy about the design.

I really wanted something that would double as a servo mount AND axle brace/truss.

I ended up building my own- NO flexing/moving of the servo or mount!

The Traxxas servo has been replaced with a Futaba S9157.

The servo arm needs to be just a little longer.

I want to further my comment on those RC4WD mounts-- they stink!

I had originally planned on using them on the above Super Jr. I felt they were just too flimsy and made the above.

I had them sitting around, and was looking to get alittle more steering performance out of my stock Clod. I mounted one on the front axle, and this is what i found.

First-off, they were *seemingly* made up-side-down. If I mounted it with the threaded hole on the knuckle, the servo mounting tabs pointed DOWN. Are they designed for a servo that fits between it and the tube??:?

So I took it upon myself to flip the tabs so that they pointed up. Well, not only are the too short, causing the back of the servo to hit the shock, they are also designed in such a way as to make full contact with the bottom of the shock, thus binding the suspension. (NOTE- they are designed with the same cut-out for the shock as the OEM steel brace is).

Thirdly, and MOST important-- they cause the stock Clod wheel to hit the servo! SO now when I turn right, the outside front tire locks up!

Oh well, here goes *another* custom, hand made part!

Look the ones I designed . They are made of stainless steel with laser cut.
The chassis is not a Hustler, it is a copy that i made for a friend.

im going to use mounts from an axial wraith. they dont seem to need any modification to the mount or axle at all. the countersunk holes lign up perfectly with the 2 most forward screws on the axle, almost like it was made for it.

it looks like all you need is longer countersunk srews, spacers and materials to make longer links.
