How many homemade stick owners out there?
 

Chime in if you have one, I'm trying to find as many build threads on this as possible. I have some clod axles coming my way. All I want to do is build something that can climb stairs. Simple with a lot of ground clearance.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. I'm looking for info on stick chassis that use the pivot point above each axle. Looking to see if anyone here has made one out of aluminum or something similar.

I have seen quite a few people make them however its hard
to beat the quality of the parts included in the Kit from TCS.

To Climb stairs you really don't require a Stick Chassis.
Climbed a full set of stairs with a 4 link TXT with 17 Inch wheelbase and Moab 40's.

Only reason I was looking to make one is that TCS no longer sells the stick kit.

I definitely want my setup to have a long wheels base, I think that is essential.

You can look at my rig "Slim" by searching " super rebuild ". I can't figure how to copy and post from my phone to link you direct.

Basicly a chunk of 1/2" aluminum rod and a lot of trial and error. He is currently sitting with a 17-1/4" wheelbase.

Might also search for "project xerox".

Yup, that's it. Even has a link to the original build up...the version 1 bent almost in half the 1st time I ran it. Version 2 never made it to the rocks because I made a couple of mistakes with layout and measurements. Version 3 is what I'm rebuilding at the moment, I'm going to be running 2 esc's and a DX6 twin stick with 1/4 scale servos. And 3s LiPo.

How do you use the DX6? I also have one, but the left thumb stick does not self center.

I bought a cam from Jetboat out of the vendors section and robbed a spring from one of the clunker rtr radios I have laying around, I opened the radio up, pulled the ratchet device and installed my new cam and spring. Pretty simple. I was going to use one of the cams in the radio as a pattern to make my own, but my patience for making stuff is wearing thin and my time is getting harder to come by. Now I have a self centering left stick and all I need is LOTS and LOTS of practice time with my rig finished up.

Search Project Xerox. I built mine off of these plans, and I still run it as my only super. Old school, but very effective.

nos482...how many degrees of axle steer do you get?

im not actually sure im still using the dogbone style axles but i would think around 35-40 deg. maby . with dual steering it turns pretty sharp

naw man,,axle steer,,,it is a geometry thing that happens because of the links hooked form the back bone to the axles,,,when you look down on the chassis from above and rotate the chassis itself to the flex side,,how far does the front axle pull back and the rear axle pull forward,,,when axle steer occurs the axles change in relation to each other on a parallel line,,one end of the axle moves forward and the other end end moves backward

sorry about that i wasn't quite sure what you ment . the measurement i got was about 3/4 if an inch total

I'm in the process of making a homemade super stick. Its my first crawler and I've always liked the look of the stick. Hopefully it will perform well.

Also, I have a question about the shocks...how much compression should they have in neutral/straight axle position?
