yeah for sure! im just too cheap to buy them yeah i can get 3 oz of wheel weight lead in each knuckle easy. but the wheel disks being that extra 1/2" further out seems to be REALLY helping with the torsion backbone. the same weight inside the knuckles did not seem to do as good. especially with stability and fighting the spring back unloading. im getting vertually non right now. plus you have to remember these wheels are REEEEALLY light. no hardware or anything either. i think there is still some tuning to do. two biggest things that need improvement right now: getting the rear tie rod higher or gone all together. and how to get more steering. because of the design of the clod knuckles the arms angle back hard towards the diff case, so when you get about 20 degrees of steering you cant get anymore because you end up with a "pull-pull" situation, ie the tie rod and steering arm are inline, parrallel. the dog bones, and knuckle clearance have lots more available but you cant get it because of the "pull-pull" steering geometry. i assume tamiya had to do this steep arm angle to clear the super deep wide wheels/tires on the clod. yeah brett at CPE is a old freind of mine. i just never felt like those could be as positive as a tie rod to something solid. in a bind, there gonna flex. they just have too? wouldnt be that hard for the metal to just move the plastic and wadle it out. just dont see it being able to do as good of a job keeping the tires in place. i definatly appreciate the time. its always an option. the lockout im currently using is CPE also Last edited by STANG KILLA SS; 02-15-2011 at 07:02 PM. |

I wonder what the Trackwidth would be with these wheels on a XLD Super Bully axle. They are 10.4in Hex to Hex...

got my rear lock out clearance problem solved. old school trick, like the whole truck. individual tierods back to the axle tubes. now i just have to figure out the steering geometry issue. Jarod, my track width is 10.9" as it sits. |

Looking good Stang Killa. I've been wanting to build one of these for a while. There is only one person that sells these, that I know of. And he's out of stock. Any idea when or IF you will be getting some more Jarod? I guess I'll keep an eye open in the BST section. |

I really like that double tie rod rear steer lockout. SO simple. I can't believe I haven't seen that before! That's how I'll do it if I ever decide to lock the rear steering. I posted a linked to this thread in a couple of other forums. Good stuff!
