I have a project clodbuster I need to get running. Anyone have suggestions for the cheapest ESC I could use? I need to replace the non-functional MSC.. The whole sorry mess only cost me $50, so I'm not too keen on dropping $80+ on an ESC, just to find out what other parts will need to be replaced. |

Depends on the motors, batteries and type of Clod rig you you will be running. You might get by with a $50 ESC but you would be better off spending a little more and be able to do more with it. For around $75 you can get a Castle Sidewinder. |

Of course, it came with dual motors. A Monster Mash and Monster Mash II. I can find very little info on them... someone thinks they are amazing, someone thinks they are average/cheap. Came with two unlabeled battery packs/sticks. I imagine they are generic Clod batteries. Is there any way to measure what a sealed up battery is? The motors spin fine when given direct current. And the transmitter/receiver work fine.. it's everything else in between that needs some attention. ![]() --and what exactly I want to do with it? That's a good question. My thought was that it needed to run first... disagree? |

See if you can find an EVX or EVX2 for cheap. I run them in a couple of my Clod based rigs. You can run 1 or 2 batteries on them.

Maybe find a "Super Rooster" esc by Novack on ebay? You might get lucky. I ran that esc for years without any problems... The lowest turn(fastest motors) I ran was 11 turn double. It was insanely fast. So that esc can handle just about anything you throw at it.

I am running an evx in mine and works just fine. I am also just running 2 Johnson 540 motors. Yea I know, nothing special right. Hey I finished 10th overall at the R/C Monster jam world finals at Diggers Dungeon. I think there were 48 trucks in the brushed electric class.

I have a clod I am trying to restore. I have been looking at upgrading to the EVX 2 and not sure on the motors yet. I was told by running more power thru two batteries I would gain speed but loose run time? Doesn't seem right, but i don't know. Is this true?

the m2 would be a good choice if it didnt still have problems and your goal was to make it a crawler since its only good for 2 stock 27t motors or up so if you want a racer its a no go. i would look for a super rooster, i run one in my clod on dual 13t doubles on an 8cell battery and it cost me $40.

Another viable option would be a Tekin rebel or Tekin rebel 2.
