So I took the truck out today, it has been a while. I forgot how to drive, the rear steer was bacwards....... Overall the truck was fine except for when the screw broke that holds in the upper rear links and then pulled out of the gear case:-(

It is an easy fix, and I am just happy that the parts that I fabbed did not break.

I drove it around the basement with 4 cell hooked up. It would climb up most things. The problem with it so far is it has too much articulation (more than 90deg). I will take some of the articulation out when I get the wiring all figured out to run all 8 cells. I sent an email to novak to figure out the wiring, so hopefully they respond by monday.

So now the pics:

There's a Clod in there........

Ha ha I have not touched the thing since it broke 6/12/06. I keep thinking about fixing it, maybe today will be the day. I have a new dodge dakota body for it but it is not painted yet.

Ok, I fixed it and I think I improved on the original design of the upper link assembly. Originally the post that connects the upper links had one machine screw and one pin holding it into the dif case. When I took the post out I noticed that the pin hole was threaded so I made a bottom hold down that eccepted two machine screws. The problem is that the heads of the machine screws overlap eachother so my solution was to put a washer under one of the screws which it kind of but not really double nuts the assembly.

Here are some pictures YO:

Making the bottom hold down

Bottom hold down with one machine screw

I'll have to rehost it somewhere. Zshare takes them down if no one watches it within a certain time period.

I also plan to take some more video footage of his truck whenever he's ready to go for a drive.

The wheel base has been shortened by about an inch and I think it climbs better. I just shortened the front links and not the rears so the weight bias moves forward. I have some pics that will be posted up later.

I agree, it did seem to climb better. It seems a shorter wheelbase is possible as long as the weight is low, and that's good because that makes center clearance not as important.

Here's a few pictures.

I guess I'm being silly, but, what problem is to be solved with cable steering? Is it just to try something different?

It was first because the servo would not fit anywhere, and second because it was something different. It is pretty cool to mess with and watch work.
