| What are good motors for a nice quick clod
Hi, I've done my research, but I can't find anything that is a sure bet. Back in the day, a couple of trinity 19T speed gems would be the best answer. What is the best answer today? I want a fairly fast clod with some like 19Turn motors and possibly run a 11.1 lipo.. Any thoughts? seems everything has gone brushless anymore... |

You have to remember that 1 motor needs to be reversed. You can reverse the Orion motor simply by rotating the endbell 180 degrees. The 19x2 motor should be pretty decent for your needs...

How are the Venom fireballs? I know they are cheap in price, but do they out right suck for a clod? I imagine I would reverse the venom the same as the orion. Thx |

Venom Fireball motors suck. The Orion Method R line of motors are better and about the same price. Might want to even bump up to a 17x2 for a bit more speed.

| i was thinking about that. Not really sure why I'm stuck on the 19x2... but i want a nice solid balance between speed and power. I'm not sure where that sweet spot is on a clod (its been 13 years since I had my last clod, and I have no clue what motors I ran). I'm thinking about the Orion Method R either 19x2 or 17x2 with the CC Sidewinder SV2 ESC.... |

17T motors with 13T pinions will give you a good combo of power and speed, without needing to bump to a super-expensive ESC.

I'm having a hard time finding any reliable specs on the Sidewinder SV2.... I think I'm going to lean that direction, but I dont know if that one ESC can handle two 17 or 19 turn motors... |

I run 15t HPI fireball motors in 2 of my CLods. On has a Novak Superduty and the other has a Super Rooster.

I dont believe Novak makes brushed ESC that can handle lower motor limits like the super rooster used to... So, looks like the CC SV2 is my best bet. |

The Super Dutys are (or were) available through Novak remanufactured for like $55. That's a steal for those.

Speaking of motors, i've researched a while back and came up with nothing for running a brushless dual motor setup. Like the traxxas system. I didn't know how it would be wired up if at all possible. Anyone running something like this?

Also, i got more "gear whine" in one axle then the other. Anyone got a cure? I've tried switching the motors and no change. All brand new gears. I've even added automotive grease for "lubrication".

Thanks in advance y'all. No intention of hijacking the thread, just havent had any luck on these subjects.

~Johnny
|

I just checked this out, and the Super Duty doesn't appear to support LiPos... or more accurately, it doesn't have LiPo cut off. I think I will just stick with the SV2 sidewinder, I just wish I knew for sure if it could handle a couple of 19s without issue... There isn't any information on that.
