I have seen alot of people use commom L brackets for shock mounts....but I cut mine out of 1/4" X 1" aluminum stock from Lowe's....thay look just like the one's on the real thing...just not as pretty..*LOL*....it only took me 46,528 times to get 2 that were exactly the same......but hey..I'm a perfectionist...with a sore right arm...

I think he is referring to the the ball joint that joins the axles to the "Stick".

This thread might show you what you need:
Project Xerox (If you can't beat them, join them!)

And the ball joint is also known as a heim joint or heim for short.

McMaster has them listed as:

Lightweight Nylon Ball Joint Rod End
7/16"-20 Right-Hand Male Shank, 89 lb Load Capacity
Nylon Composite Ball Joint Rod End, 7/16-20 UNC Male
http://www.mcmaster.com/ #1064K551, $8.15 ea

Thanx for the info guys. I am curious has anyone used a different variation of the heim? That would be interesting to see the different home depot methods thought up!

i use the red anodized aluminum 1/4" female ones from www.mcmaster.com page 1087, they need to be turned down a little to fit in the hole but they look cool:-P

1/4" rodend from your local tractor supply store... a little overkill sure
the shafts need to be turned down a tad to fit through the gearbox

I've added a washer on top of the gearbox as well since then

Hey i found a good one for homebrewers. Try lawn mower ball joints. They come in like two sizes that i found. The 3/8's work very well a little tall but they work nun the less. It crawls well i just need to find a decent spot to do it. The place i was going has WAY to many drop offs and overhangs to actually enjoy it without wondering if you broke anything on the last hit...Ill post pics when i get em and thanx for all the input!
