| How to achieve max steer out of stock axles
So as of now I run complete bone stock axles with the tires. I run the NN chassis on my rig. I know to cut the plastic stoppers on the top and bottom of each knuckle to allow the servo to have more throw. But still doesn't seem to be enough for crawling. I would rather run a narrower tire than using offset spacers for the wheels. Any other tricks to get a sharper steering angle? Or am I stuck until I buy sum aluminum knuckles and CVD axles to gain sharper turning degrees? |

You can also grind off the ring on the back side of the knuckle to get a little more. The stock axels will only turn so far before they bind up and eventually snap. |

How much additional steering if any do you get from the CVDs?

You can gain quite a bit of durability/steering throw by using thundertech CVD's. Once you start really dropping money into the clods via CVD's, metal housings, gearsets look into super bullies. It's tough to turn our backs on such a reliable axle but decisions have to be made. I am still miking Clodbusters w/ cvd's and all alum upgrades. Try to find used parts for the axles. IT will make it a lot easier. |

You can increase uber steering by modifying your knuckles for zero ackerman. However without upgrading to alum knuckles & CVDs, the plastic knuckles will only handle so much stress and the stock axle pins will shear off due to the excessive turn radius. Here is an example of the mod on my clod axles; |

Do you have another pic of the other side? How did you attach the ackerman piece to the near side of the knuckle? Thanks Quote:

Thanks for the pix. But after buying 60 bux worth of knuckles and the alumn axle tubes it would be cheaper for me just to buy a set of rc4wd bully axles that are complete. But who knows.. may just have to get the alumn knuckles for now as I having to replace burned up ESC and bought external BEC. And to top it off building custom tires.
