| DIG switch (cheaper + better alternative to punk maybe?)
Found this at servo city. Its also solid state like the punk rc DIG system. http://www.servocity.com/html/electr...ch__dual_.html It's rated at 60amps up to 60vDC. Not sure how it wires up though. Just sent them an email. It only costs $35. |

LOOKS HUGE!!! I doubt it will catch on... space is a premium.... Stick with the punk dig. It is made for crawling, nothing else.

It's a nice little box but i vote for Punk, because of it's capability to short out the motors while diggin, that's what the lil yellow one doesn't. But maybe one of us gives it a try and tell us how it does. Greetings Frank |

Also, I didn't notice the size. EDIT: just checked it out again to see the size. It's only about the size of a reciever, is that really that big? (I haven't even started my super build yet). EDIT2: Just checked out the punk site, definately looks as big as the yellow box to me. Last edited by Spiftacu1ar; 09-07-2009 at 01:05 AM.

The Punk is using relais changeover contacts and the yellow box uses transistors, so you have to switch on the transistor for current flow. There are two ways a transistor can support that: 1. It switches the minus pole (ground) to the motor and plus pole is fixed. 2. it switches the plus pole to the motor and minus pole is fixed. Maybe i'm wrong, but to short cut a motor and on the other side give him the power it needs with a transistor isn't that easy. But the relais contacts have no problems with it. Greetings Frank |

I could see it being great for lights... you could wire it up so you would have left and right blinkers.

i honestly have had zero issues with my punk digs. Also sounds like they are not the same. id stick with that for comp rigs but others are right....your find would be cool for lights, winch and so on. it is smaller than i first thought as well. lol

ANyhow, Frank, you have some good info up there about using transistor switches, so you are probably right. I'll still wait for the manaul though. Again, I am not buying either right now. I was actually looking for a servo there, and saw it in there new stuff section. And was like "oh, that looks like it could be used for dig". I will probably start my build in a month or so.

...it's a really cheap offer, which you can use for some scale gimmicks, why not. Maybe a servo micro switch dig is an other opportiunity, but for me, the punk is it... Greetings Frank |
