Default Oly's Birth

Large amounts of Olympia beer have been Consumed while staring at the pile of parts So I have called this little rig Oly.

I'm trying to get this thing together on a budget since I'm also trying to get my life size trail rig trail worthy again.

BLAH BLAH BLAH all the typical parts to make a set of clod axles crawl.

I'm making my own links and chassis

I've had the CJ-8 body sitting around for years.

Got 6 sets of nylint tires for 3 bucks for a set I'm gonna run them and use some of that tire softener stuff thatI have sitting around from my oval racing days.

I just picked up the material for my second side plate. I also picked up some convex washers to use on my link mounts and shock mounts.

After sifting through all the various makes and models of RC parts I can't see me ever buying another out of the box rig.

It's so much better to mix and match from different manufactures and home fab parts.

Made my Steering and started on the chassis.
Everything came to a grinding halt when I broke a tap.

I did all of the work today during cocktail hour.
I was sitting at my picnic bench in my backyard hacking away with my cordless tools and my new scroll saw. I also got my upper link mounts today.

I had a dog named Oly. My dad would drink Olympia beer and put it in his water dish at the desert. Oh yah, nice start to the build

For three bucks a set, I'm not going to complain about them. If my can of sticky tire maker doesn't work I will be getting new tires and rims sooner than later

I'm not going to put an EB body on it just to piss off the EB guys in the 4 wheel drive club. In fact I might just getthe golf cart body and cut the crap out of it..

Lower links are done, Well kind of! They are a little longet than I want but I',going to finish the wholething then shorten them If I want to.
Got tthe front uppers done. But I got to much of a buzz going to finish them and I need to get some longer screwes and some more convex washers.

Chassis is done for now. Still probably need to shorten the wheelbase but I want to get it running first.

I need to make my servo mounts and finish my draglinks then mount all the electrical stuff. paint and mount body.

And I'm still calling it Oly

I need to get some different shocks.
the savage shocks I had laying around are way to long.

Does any one know of a shock with a 6/32 or 4 mm lower mount hole?

Oly Is running.

I have way to much articulation. over 90 degrees. Need to really reduce the articulation.

front pinion came loose. and my speed control is reversed. need to figure that out.

So far this thing wiggles through every part of my rock course wihout a problem.
Way to easy. I now need to find more rocks

I'll get some shots later.

Right now I run a battery through it then do some fine tuning.

I need to resecure the front pinion gear.the stupid little flathead screw didn't want to stayput.

Maybe I have an Allen Set screw some where thatwill work.

I need to find some shorter shocks for sure.

I knew the savage shocks would be too long but I didn't realize I would be able to nearly turn one axle upside down and still have the other axle planted on the ground.
