the PVC pipe works great . Must be a S E R C R C thing as i also have my setup that way . just use some small screws (i did 4 spaced around it ) to space the pipe on the alum. knuckles . the pipe won't move around . strap your batteries to the outside of the pipe and you are done. but it still want work with Maxx size wheels got to run 40's

What size pvc are you using. I found the diagram on sercrc but it lists the pvc as 1/16" . I assume this is 1 1/16". Any help would be great. Tim |

I took one of my aluminum knuckles into Lowe's with me to test fit the PVC. FYI, GPM and RC4WD knuckles have different diameters. The PVC coupling I use (rc4wd knuckles)is 1-1/16 inch in diameter. |

Yea its 1 1/16 highmark is a moron.I allso did it with some pvc T ends I had laying around off an old rc boat stand I had they work awsome. One thing you need to watch is dont let your wires or batterys get close to the aluminum on the knuckles and short the batterys out.I use liquid electrical tape on my batterys to seal them up and insulate them from shorting.

Ok stupid question - what is the point of using Alum. knuckles if your just covering them up with the PVC and the batteries? Just wondering I have Alum knuckles on mine, but with going with the knuckle mounted batteries, I just put the stockers back on and left the alum. knuckles on the rear. I then had an extra pair to slap on my 2.2 |

The aluminum is a stronger knuckle.... and covering it with PVC doesnt change that....

yeah i just did it with pvc and it worked great. also another reason for the pvc is that it makes the curve of the pack smaller thus not cramming the packs b/w the stock and some 40s (cause that is a close fit, but still works) besides the strength of the knuckles, some say that it helps in turning radius. i saw a little improvement but not much. once i put in the cvd's then i say a huge difference. i talked to the guy that runs thundertech racing and he said the the knuckles really dont help with steering radius but just adds strength. he also said that they are working on some knuckles that will increase the steering radius but they are still being developed. oh well. |

I have the alum knuckles for strength only. I kept busting the plastic ones. Also, since I have put the batteries on my knuckles and taken all of the BBs out of my tires, it crawls 10 times better. I should also break less parts now because it is less of a pig.

JP Custom RC aluminum knuckles are coming shortly. Machined from aluminum and designed to accept 4 cells per knuckle, will work on MAXX sized wheels, (if need be) and include much larger bearings to help support the weight of the cells. http://www.jpcustomrcs.atomicshops.c...74/4461987.htm |

| if you dont want to spend the money it is possible it just takes some fabbing. most any 40 series wheel will allow for you to run knuckles packs on stock knuckles. If you want to be on the safer side go with some wheels that xtm makes like the thorns and they allow a lot of room.
