We can make custom length links for you, and can also provide a complete chassis kit if that's something you're looking for. You can view this thread to see a few of the chassis and components we offer for the Clod: http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/showthread.php?t=40087

Take a look at what others here use for their crawlers. There's a large ammount of vendor support for the Clod and many great chassis to choose from. Good luck and welcome to RCC!

If you're on a low budget and are willing to do a lot of fabrication yourself, then do it yourself! I made starting with a stock clod and I spent £20 (about $35) getting it to this standard..

if you have the time and tools you should make your own chasis like me
and if you don't buy a clod tuber chasis from a vender

You got a hacksaw? Vice? Tinsnips? These, along with the stuff you already mentioned, and a £3 tap, is all I used
