| Complete Clod Gearbox/Axle from RC4WD
I'm looking to purchase these complete axle sets from RC4WD http://rc4wd.com/shop/product_info.php?products_id=1229 It seems like these are going to be better choice than going all stock clod parts. What do you guys think of this? Will it work with my NN chassis? Thanks |

I'd say go for it, for $199 w/ some goodies. You figure for a stock set $145??? $54 more you get the goodies included with it.

That's a great start for a rockcrawler, but like others have said, I don't tink those kits are in stock much. Stock Clod axles can be found here and on Ebay for around $100, and you can add parts to get to this point as your budget allows. |

The metal axles are most likely in stock at $399.99 per axle |

I asked this question a while ago. I ended up buying them they took about 1 month to ship. I had to turn down the axle shafts on my schools lathe because they wouldnt fit in the bearings, some of the SS hardware was incomplete, the aluminum knuckles ended up missing two sets of spacers and had terrible machineing AND those axle braces are pointless the stock ones are much better I ended up replacing mine. Ever scince i will not deal with rc4wd or any of their products unless its an emergency. Buy the stock axles from the crawler store and upgrade from there they are a much better company to deal with.

I've got the Stainless shafts and they stink, the machining is crap, so bad I have gone back to the stock shafts, as for the turn knuckles, the machining there is dodgy as well. I wont buy from them again.

The machining is crap. I bought a set of these axles from them several months ago. Took about a month to receive them. I was missing a bunch of parts that took about 8 emails and another month to get them to send the missing parts. Out of the 8 axle shafts-- 3 of them needed to be turned down to fit thru the bearings. I got fed up with trying to use the axles that I bought a set of stock ones off ebay and ran those instead. I have the aluminum ones I bought sitting in a box in the basement collecting dust. I may someday have the motivation to take the time to get them to work and put them under a crawler. Until that happens, I'll run the stock stuff and keep extra shafts and knuckles on hand. John |

For those who have problem with the knuckle or drive shaft, please contact us at rcrock(at)gmail.com, we will send you a free replacement right away. All I need is a order # or last name. We might ask you to send the broken one back or at least send us a picture of the problem. We had quite some problem with the drive shaft. Some drive shafts from the last patch we made have poor machined spline, it was loose, it will strip easily. I already replaced the person who work on those parts, and we redesigned the knuckles, the newer knuckle will be superior than all the knuckles we ever made. We made 100+ sets of those drive shaft, right now we only kept 20 or so sets, just so we have something to send to customer for now as replacement. All other one are toss away already. A brand new drive shaft will be done within 2-3 weeks too. We redoing the entire tooling on the spline right now. If any of you guys have any other kind of problem or suggestions, feel free to contact me by email. Just a reminder we dont check PM very often. -Mike Last edited by rc4wd; 09-14-2006 at 07:28 PM. |
