The only cure is to learn to drive a twin stick radio with no mixing. You control both esc's all the time. Thats what I do, it works extremely well for me. It also opens up a whole new world of abilities to the world of compitition.
Adjustable motor mounts to run different pinion gears
There was a time when we had to modify the cases to fit different pinions. Now the best thing to do is check with any of the vendors for adjustable motor mounts. They are inexpensive and much better than trying to modify the gear cases.
What motors should I use
65 and 75 turn motors are great for rigs running big 6.5"+ tires or heavier rigs. They have loads of torque.
35, 45, and 55 turn motors are great for 2.2 Clods or lightweight rigs running bigger tires. These offer more tire speed than the 65 and 75 turn motors but have less torque.
Consider running 8 cells or more, most lathe motors were designed for 12 volts anyway.

Personally I like to run 45T or 55T motors on 8 cells.

Brushless motors have loads of torque and can spin fast as well.

How do I lock the diffs:
You can either "weld" up the spider gears with hot glue, Shoe Goo, or JB Weld.

Or you can buy an aftermarket spool from one of the vendors.


How do I shave the axles:
Shaving the axles on a 2.2 Clod is a must for any decent ground clearance but it helps even with the big tires.

What rod ends should I use:
These rod ends work with 6-32 or 4-40 threaded rod.
-Most common is the Traxxas Maxx rod end (part number 1942):
-Some people use the Associated MGT rod ends (part number 25121):

These rod ends work well with 8-32 or 4mm threaded rod.
-The Traxxas Revo rod end (part number 5347):

How do I narrow wheels:
-Narrowing Proline 40 series wheels
-Narrowing Axial 40 series wheels

How do I adapt wheels to the Clod Axles?
Clod axles have a 12mm hex, many of the vendors sell hex adapters and wideners to allow you to run wheels with 12mm hex, 14mm hex, 17mm hex, and 23mm hex.
TMaxx, EMaxx, Savage, etc wheels are 14mm hex so you will need a 12 to 14 mm adapter.
Proline 40 series wheels can be found in 14mm hex and 23mm hex.
Axial 40 series wheels use a 17mm hex.
Maxximizer wheels come with 14mm hex or 17mm hex.
MAXX wheels mounted to clod without adapters.

Yes, cut off the steering stops. The dogbones can handle the extra turning just fine.

Default clod axles: settings for 2 indipendent motors and escs

I would like to run ( with a 4 ch radio) 2 iindipendent esc and 2 motors on my stick (clod axles).
I see it is a great upgrade for crawling without rolling over the truck in critical conditions.
Now (1 esc+2 motors,parallel circuit) I use 1 battery pack 1500 mAh 8 cells.
-Can i use only this battery for 2 escs?
I ask this because in the stick chassis there isn't so much space.
It is possible also battery splitting and positioning under the steering knuckles, (how many cells 7,8,9???? and what kind of cells???).
Then... with 2 esc I will have 2 bec circuit for servos and receiver. I must use the current from 2 bec, only 1 bec activated or I must use a battery pack for servos (5 cells???)

Who has any experience???

Yes, you just need to wire up a harness to connect both (+) leads from the ESC's to the (+) of the battery, same thing with the negative leads.

You can run AA size cells with Maxx (3.2") size wheels or sub-C's with 40 series wheels. Look at Eeepee's rig, it has 8 AA's with room to spare. I think 8 might be the limit for sub-C's.

You can use the BEC from both ESC's, that's what I did.

If you take the time to learn how to drive the 4ch setup then yes, it is worth it. I couldn't get the hang of it after a few times out so I gave up on it because it was too hard to drive in comps.

You should be able to run two high power servos, but don't quote me on that cuz I have not ever used the TR2.

Grizz, i was thinking maybe a "how to" on wiring a bec for 2 servos and 2 esc, or 2 servos and i esc. Maybe a couple examples would be the 2 most commonly used, the castle bec and the cool bec from JRH.

I would like to add 1 thing.By running a smaller pinion in the rear it helps with stall.

However,I would not consider running without a 4 channel.

I was checking out the link for how to mount shocks on the lower link bars and I noticed that some folks were having trouble with their cable clamps slipping... Taking the ends off the links, cutting pipe into 2 sections, sliding over the link bar on either side of the shock mount, and reassembling the links works like a charm. I realize this may be an old trick, but it is an alternative to set-screws and collars. Because allen-heads and set-screws are a proven product of Lucifer.
