Default New 2.2 build

I got rid of my tlt so that I could build a clod to run in the 2.2 class, so I will start a new build thread. It will be a tuber of coarse but hopefuly I can do some things different enough that it will be interesting. Now on to the good stuff,

Clod axles,
hand wound 35 turn integy lathe motors,
9 tooth pinions,
HPI superstar wheels,
2.2 Mashers,
hitec 645mg servo,
(2) moped esc's,
(7) McNair 4500 C cells,
4 channel rx,
maxx shocks,
and a tube chassy, I'm thinking another moon buggy.

I got the front axle configured tonight.

Got some work done today, started on the base for the tube frame, just getting the w/b layed out so I know were to put things. I should have good ground clearance, I havend had a chance to shave the axles yet. The 1/4 scale servo will go in the rear and make it so I can force the suspension to work if need be. I should start on the tube work tomorrow. I also ordered some red rocks, just figured I'd give them a try.

Got some work done today, finished the rear suspension. The lower links are solid 1/4" cold roll steel, the uppers are 3/16" tubing. I got the 1/4 scale servo mounted on the bottom only, the upper half of the mount will be intigrated into the tube work. The suspension articulates just like I wanted to with no binding, this is no small feet considering I had to dodge the motors and the links. The servo has plenty of holding power so I'm not worried about it, it can't be any worse off than it would be steering. So tommorow I will hopefully tube it out and get the front end complete. The top of the 1/4 scale servo will be about at the roof line, I am going to make it look alot like my super does, with a different front end.

I hope you plan to replace that servo horn w/ an aluminum one.

Looks like an interesting design concept.

That's cool, I love seeing origonal new stuff.

Just out of curiosity, why use the big C' cells when you can get close to that capacity out of Sub Cs?

They only cost $2 a cell, there not much bigger and can take a charge faster.

Got all the tube work done today, not bad for 2 hours of work, also made the front links. I think this one will work very well. I tried something new, I used 3/16 solid rod instead of 1/4" tubing, just thought I'd try it a different way from all the other frames I've built. I'm going to take it all apart and braze the frame, then I need to make all the body panals and hood, for the paint job, I think I will paint it all red and put the rising sun in one corner of the hood and let the rays wrap around the body. Still havent thought of a name.

Here's a video of the suspension at work, I don't have the motors wired up and I left the rx for it at work so I just pluged it in to my super. I also decided on a name...
