| New to Clods, building my first homemade truck.
Hi, I am new to this all but I am starting off with asking about a couple of the measurements on y'alls Clods. I am designing a chassis and would like to know what a good measurement for ground clearance at the bottom of the chassis would be? I am thinking the bigger, the better. Is an 8" tall tire really practical? And I am looking at making mine wheelbase 22". Does anyone on here have as large of a wheelbase as that? I have a solid plan in my head and I am sketching and making templates as I am brainstorming. I really want this to be able to climb anything! Thanks for the advice. I will post pics of the build as it progresses if anyone is interested. Thanks again.

8" tall tires and a 22" wheelbase. Being that the Clod wheelbase is only 11", good luck.

Wow - 22" I think the longest wheelbase I've seen is around 17" |

I just built a 22" clod. I need to figure out how to upload a pic.

Can't wait to see it! Right now I have the suspension geometry figured out and am starting to machine some aluminum trusses and suspension brackets. I am a machinist at work so I am working on these parts on my lunch and break times. I will start a new thread for my build when I have a little more to show.

Nice. I am designing mine with a very different attitude, but I over build everything I build.. |

I built the chassis and links. True Value hardware sells it all.

I am using an old set of TVP's from my Savage for the chassis. The rest of the links and suspension is going to be custom made by me on a mill or lathe. I really want it finished by January of 2015.
