Lightbulb How to make a skid plate with a pack of cigarettes

(Please excuse my english, I'm Spanish)

Greetings from Spain. I've been hardcorecrawling for one and a halve years now, and it was about time to bolt in a skid plate for my clod, but due to a recent car accident, I'm buckless, so as crawlers are a lot of do-it-yourselve I decided to go ahead and build my own skid plate to protect my brand new carbon fiber links (self-made aswell).

To do this yourself, you'll need means to cut, drill and bend aluminium.

As title said, I'll be using an empty pak of cigarettes as a starting point:

Once we have the aluminum completelly cut in the shape of a disasambled pack, is a good idea to use some sandpaper.

Now is time to bend it, I'll be making 3 bends, tip on bending, it's much easier, and accurate to use a bigger and completelly straight sheet to push.

So we end up with this:

And once we have the skid plate is time to bolt it in the axle, I didn't want to make any modiffication to my gear case, so I used two L shaped pieces, with the hole at 17mm, and a U shape piece, wich is 30mm long the lower part, and 20mm the vertical parts.

and the final product is as follows:

Hope someone finds this usefull, this are my two cents to this great crawlers community.

Sure thing clod booster, I "drive" a clod based rockcrawler, chasis is a Vprime , from UTRCRC, Hitec 645Mg front and rear, Integy lathes 55 turns front and rear with 8 tooth pinions. Novak Super Rooster, Shocks Integy Piggy Back, Traxxas TQ3 modiffied for rear steering. Imex duallies, blue alloy turnbuckles, 12 ex to 12 ex wheel wideners, carbon fiber upper links and steering links and four battery packs (2 3000 & 2 2400) to power all it up.

Pics were taken before having the carbon arrow links and skid plate.

Sorry to go off topic, but I had to laugh at the cigarette package wording.

"Tobacco is very addictive, do not start smoking"

"Smoking may kill"
