Nice link... you're happy with the performance I assume?

Welp, the build lives once again.

Finally... had some long awaited goodies at my door today...

And, after an hour or so;

Tomorrow, motors, shave the steering knuckles and maybe mount the axles to the chassis. Going with 75 turns and stock pinions. 9 tooth would be way too small and give the truck no kick at all.

i'am currently running 75 lathes from axiom on my NN, on 9 tooth gears and a moped but i'am running 8 cells on it, it's is awesome to crawl with , still haven't fried it , but i have a couple novaks coming my way and i'am not going to fool with those , so i will probably go down to 6 cells and stock gears

Awesome work man!

I still remember putting my N.N. together...
Good stuff.

Any ideas what body you're gonna run?

Honestly I don't really know what I am going to do for a body yet... I had a couple that I was going to use but one is red which won't go at all (geez I sound like a woman!) and the other is too pretty to cut up!

Lotsa progress today!

Shaved and mounted steering knuckles
Installed Gmade center link mounts
Installed RCGuy steering kit up front
Crawler store servo plate in rear
Added Hitec 5995TG servo
Mounted motors/pinons and clear gearcase covers

Need to change the servo horn, put servo on rear and axles just about ready to mount!

Ok I've been asked several times now for the complete build list so I will post it here.

Bought from thecrawlerstore.com

NN Chassis kit
Complete Unassembled Clodbuster Axles
Clodbuster Bearing Kit (20 piece)
Clodbuster Clear Plastic Gear Cover
Integy Lathe Motor 75 Turn Single Wind
Hitec 5995TG Robot Servo - Ultra High Torque (330oz front steering)
Hot Bodies Threaded Aluminum Body Shocks Blue
GMade Clodbuster Top Link Mounts (set of two)
Gmade Lower link kit (no longer made)
TheCrawlerStore Clodbuster Steering Servo Mount (for rear steering)
RcGuy Pro Steering Kit
Thundertech Clodbuster or Jugg to 14mm Hex
Deans Wet Noodle 12 Gauge Motor Wire
Deans Ultra Plugs

Bought from Country Alloy Works (eBay)

Blue Maximizer Beadlocks
Red Rock tires
Aluminum Rock Rings

Had
TowerPro 995 servo (220ozs rear steering)
Novak Super Rooster
M3 Radio/Rx

The axles are locked with hot glue. Been doing it for YEARS and never once had one break loose. Just do it careful and fill all nooks.

Shaving the knuckles means cutting off the steering stops and grinding down the inside ring of the knuckle so it can turn farther.

NO GREASE ANYWHERE regardless of what the build sheet says. This crap attracts dust, dirt and grit. I have a 4 year old Clod that has been through hell and back and still runs awesome.

Use an extra thin washer (you have to find the right size) on the outside of the axle inside of the E-Clip. This takes some play out of the axle, gives a bit more steering and saves the life of the dogbone end.

Don't do a sloppy build! If you don't have the right size bolts, BUY SOME! Using a bolt that is 1/2" too long looks ugly and can snag on stuff.

More progress and a problem...

I did not want an 18" wheelbase! Seems the lower Junfac link mounts have extended the wheelbase more than I anticipated. Since the suspension geometry is already where I want it, I have no choice but to shorten the links. :-(

Why dont you just move the links in on the chassis?

move the links in and make it the wheelbase you wanted. i love my NN. it doesnt do as well as the sticks, but at least it LOOKS like a chassis.

This is one of the sweet features of the NN. You can move the upper and lower links from 14"-17" (with std link mounting) w/o changing the geometry at all. Just move the lower and upper links to a different hole like so...(the cfnn has the same holes)

That is what I thought too Jake. :/

Wrecker, wouldn't the links being that close together on the chassis make the truck a little less stable?

I guess it won't hurt for me to try it eh?

Thanks for the smack in the head! lol
