Can't tell what servo you have, but if isn't a high torque version it won't be able to properly turn the wheels. If you lift the front tires off the ground then try steering, do you have the same issues?

Your servo horn looks a little short to make the complete steering throw of a clod. Plus the plastic horns flex some loosing even more steering. That said, if what CPE MT above said is true for you, a longer horn will only decrease the amount of torque the servo makes. |

This is the servo I am using. I had it in my clod before I made it into a crawler and it had no trouble turning all 4 wheels at all. When I pick up the front tires they turn very fast but still stop in the same place. Mabye it is the length of the horn. Here is a link to the servo. http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id...50&pid=U569935 |

Probably is the horn then. That servo is borderline for larger crawler tires, but should turn what you have there fairly well. Also, carpet is usually much harder to turn on due to the amount of traction th tires get on it. Try it outside on some rocks and see how it does. You still need to get a longer servo horn to utilize all your steering throw though. Also, something to think about, the turning radius will be MUCH greater without 4 wheel steer. It also gets increased when the wheelbase is stretched. |

Thanks, thats what I figured. Its just I am still waiting on the lathe motors so I havn't locked the diffs yet. Once I lock them the radius will be rediculous. Oh well, I'll get a longer metal horn and give it a shot and see what it does.

What kind of servo is it again? I must have missed that part. I'm guessing that your original clod was pure stock with the mounted servo in the middle of the chassis. The stock clod tires were very slick and could move with ease with a standard servo. The weight from the front axle and the lower tires that have more grip might be playing a part in why your servo seems weak. Do you have a extra battery pack connected to your rx for power? |

I use an Ofna 8th scale buggy steering horn on my rig... It shoves the wheels past the stops a bit... Just enuff to warrant snippin' 'em off...
