Bangers and Mash

I was out crawlin with the ol' 2.2 clod today and something just didn't seem right....

So when I got home, I heaved the pig up onto the bench and gave it a look-see....

....everything looks OK here....for the most part....

...wait a minute...something has gone askew....??

....that don't look right.....??

So much for the rod ends blowing out and saving my rods, eh? That was the result of a five-foot fall, landing nose down on the right front wheel.

It was initially bent about 20 degrees less than this, and was driving Ok enough to keep messing around, but a bit later I had it bound up tight in a gap and it pushed the rod to where it is now.

After that, I called it quits for the day. Steering was downright silly and the wheelbase on one side is 1.5" less than the other.....LOL

I'm thinking about going back to that same drop off and heave the truck off there three more times and match all four lower links....but I reckon I'd end up with a 8" wheelbase...."thumbsup"

In my four months of crawling, I've blased the truck a few good shots. So far it's not busted up at a comp <keeping fingers crossed while awkwardly knocking on wood>

Already fixed. Chopped off a length of 3/16 tube, tapped the ends, and screwed it all back together....15 minutes.

Is that a record? Can anybody beat it? Sounds like a good off-season contest. Post your video of you making a new suspension link in the video area...Winner gets my VW Beetle body....

I'm loving the damage. Your truck must have been going at like 100 mph with all that weight on the front axle.

I dunno....how fast does a truck get going in a five foot freefall....??

Weight on the front axle; what you don't see is 7oz of stainless ballbearings in each front tire...."thumbsup"
