Default Old Clodbuster getting a new life

This Gravedigger was my Clod back in like 1988??

Then it was rebodied several times for halftime entertainment at monster jam shows in the Memorial Coliseum and later the Rose Garden..

Started coming up with my own links, suspension setups..

Back to the monster truck shows..

That's me with the hair..

More..

So, pulled it down from the shelf, has not been ran since probably 2000

I'll continue this soon..

Chassis on this thing is an old ESP (its all old but yeah) with solid frame rails that I milled. C channel rails were bending regularly at the monster truck shows. It also has a milled lower plate, my machined links, servo mount, and upper and lower shock mounts.

Pics..

I had the bolts like this so I could see where it landed on the real cars at the shows..

There it is, next I'll get into trying to get this guy goin..

First up was reworking the lower plate, I didn't want the bolts hanging out the bottom anymore. Was nice before as they marked the car that I was landing on for a distance check!

Tried to get it going with the old super rooster, airtronics M8, lipo and a battery alarm..

Was thinking of going to a Bronco Body..

Bronco ended up on my Toyzuki SCX10 tho..

So, Toyzuki was not using the Deadbolt body...

Flex test with the Deadbolt body..

Back on the bench..

Body post mods.. These posts have never held their position well, working on the SCX10 drivelines gave me an idea..

Thanks!

Was finally time to try to drive it, had some super crazy glitching, didn't even make it out of the basement door.

Time to add some new parts!

Talked to Holmes Hobbies, this is what they recommended.

Pulled out the old speed jem 12 turns..

Found a guy on this board selling the stock electronics from his SMT10, so Tatcic radio, and 27 turn motors going in..

4000 mah 3S lipo will be the power..

Now to test again..

Open diffs make it tough to crawl, but downhills are great, can monster truck up stuff just fine. loving the power.

Badass man, love seeing the pics of it from its heyday.

How does it compare with the 27t and 3s ?

I just got an old one running, but with stock silver cans, superrooster, and a 2s. It's pretty quick but more is always better haha

I couldn't get any of the videos to play? Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but couldn't get nothing.

Same here, couldn't get the videos to play.

Really liking the Deadbolt body on it, looks perfect! And pretty cool story to see it back then, thanks for sharing.

Still nothing for me, opens them up as if they're an image.

Would you say it's faster now than a good nimh and the 13t?

I was running 10 cells at the time so it is a bit like that, definitely faster than any 6-7 cell nicd.

I'll try to get my gopro videos posted on youtube and link them here.

Man... I still have to put my CPE Time Warp chassis to good use. I remember seing the 1 piece axle shafts when I was building my clod earlier this year on ebay.

NWO 4 Life! Good times.

Awesome truck. I would have left it as is and built another one personally, but I'm glad to see you using it again. Clods rock!

Gotta love a retro Clod with a cool history. I recently pulled my old Clod off the shelf and converted it into a crawler.

I think I will be going back to an older body, maybe a blackfoot hard body?
