| Worth $300?
Was at my LHS the other day and they have what appears to be an all stock clod in decent shape, the body is beat up but everything seems to be there and intact. It's on consignment and the tag says comes with tx/rx for $300. I didn't pay much attention to it then but It's been bouncing around in my head for a week or so now (a clod is one of those always wanted trucks for me) Assuming it runs good and doesn't make any odd noises are they worth $300, I don't know what radio or any other details just wondering if for the price it's worth going back in? Thanks for you input!

It depends which TX and RX are included, but it's not a good deal at all unless it has the Chevy grill and tailgate. A brand new Clod kit is $270 shipped at Tower Hobbies with coupon. It comes with everything you need to run it except the servo and TX/RX. |

It seems like it may make a difference that I am in Canada, the new kit sells for around $500 here. By the time I did shipping to here and the exchange I think it will be closer to the $500 they cost here.

Seems like different shops have wildly different prices for Clod kits. The Tamiya website shows the SuperClod for $500, I just found a shop selling SuperClod for $349. I guess that answers my earlier question about a used Clod for $300,I guess I will wait and get a Brand new Clod when I am ready.

I have seen them online in Canada for CAN$400, when they are in stock. But then, you'd need bearings, radio, etc. Don't start assembling it without bearings. I would ask, do you plan to drive it much? I've got one, and, out of the box, they are pretty awful. A 1/4" of travel, almost no steering, top heavy, and relatively huge unsprung weight. I understand wanting to have one, but don't make it one of your main trucks. |

No it wouldn't be a main truck, it would likely sit beside the Lunch Box I am building. A nice stock shelf queen that would be fun to bounce around the yard now and then.

I patched together an ESC and 3s lipo for my old Clod, and took it out for a run with the yeti and summit we purchased last year. They sure have come a long way in 30 years. | |
