| Clod axle rebuild?
Hi there, new to the Clodbuster scene and learning as fast as I can read. Tons of great info here, a quick question to the Clod exreienced out there. If I wanted to properly rebuild the gearcases front to back what should be replaced? I bought a older truck off someone that caught a curb and broke a steering knuckle, so I figured if I was going to order parts then I may as well add bearing and rebuild whats needed. Do I need cross shafts etc? Thanks for your time and hope to have a project under way soon. |

ball bearings are a must if you want to crawl it glue the diff so its lock or buy one thats locked some run the alum knuckles some dont some run cvd axles. start with the basics and if you break something theres a upgrade part for anything in the axles

Check the condition of the gears inside, look real close at the diff gear were the brass hex fits for the axle, they tend to strip out after a while. If you have to order a gear they come as a set for 1 axle so you can replace them all for about 8 bucks. Replace that axle tube with a stocker, and look at getting some aluminum nuckles like andrewmp6 said. CVD's are real nice to have but not a must, bearings are a must! You can get some lockers from: www.thecrawlerstore.com from TTR racing same with the CVD's or you can lock it with JB Weld for a cheaper fix. Later, Jake |

here is a decent list of parts from Tower, shows alot of replacement and some upgrades that are available: http://www2.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=TAMC0321&P=Z I got a few items from Crawford Performance, a vendor here and they were great to deal with. I got the adjustable motor mounts and some diff lockers, real nice stuff and a good price too! |

Thank you all for the replies. I was planning on lockers and bearings for sure, the aluminum knuckles look good but will probably wait. Thanks again.
