thanks i bought the stock rolling clod with ball bearings for 50 bucks and spent maybe at the most $20 on the chassis. now i need to sell my hpi to buy electronics for it

Glad to see you are able to build your crawler on a budget. Many people say the best out of box crawler is a TXT (I have been guilty of this ) so it is nice to see people building Mod Clods for less money than a new TXT.

From what i understand, that much articulation will make the truck difficult to drive in the rocks. I have not built one with that much travel. Alot depends on the terrain and what you want I guess, most important thing is that you enjoy it.

Yep, too much flex is bad, and makes the rig almost impossible to drive. The first version of my truck could get about 110* It was silly, but it looked neat! When I was on flat ground and went to turn, the front axle would just go upside down. While crawling, the axles would get turned up so much... I dont know, I can't really explain it, just didnt work. A nice somewhat firm spring, and about 75* seems right

Good job on the budget crawler! Thats not half bad. The only reason mine has cost so much is all the motors and ESC's I've gone through before my current setup!!

Mount the shocks further down on the links, or even on the axles and to the frame.

Yea, perfect advise and the cool thing is you have built a truck you have to downsize the twist on, that is awesome you did it cheap and you have aftermarket motors there it looks like. Thats gonna be a sweet truck, I hope post alot of "downsized---the bear gave you directions" pics with a body on it. I love looking at home built rigs, anybody can buy parts but there really is satifaction in building things yourself. No really
