Thats a great start. Now it's the hard part. braze all the link and shock mounts. Oh and don't forget to brace it up.

Well, I got a little more work done on the chassis yesterday. Some of the bracing is done and I also put on the stinger. Still have to finish the top of the cage and make the body pannels.

Heres some more pics...

Any comments or concerns?

Looks pretty cool, I reckon it'd make a cool sandrail frame.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Im hoping to get some work done on it tonight. The plan is to have it mocked up and ready to paint by the weekend ...We'll see how that goes!

Well, I got nothing accomplished on the chassis tonight. I just tore down my other set up, so that I could mock up the axels. It looks like I will have to re-think my link mount locations. I had planned on mounting them on tabs between the horizontal braces on the cab section and the bottom...but that will make the links really short. I will have to think about it some more.

Here are some pics of approximate location of the axels. Any ideas for the links...or anything else for that matter??

Let me know what you guys think...or if you have any suggestions!

it looks awsome and i think u should add alittle more bracing were the upper part of the cage meets the middle, connnect it to the bottom part of the cage so the frame does it bend in the middle from a hard roll over. just my .02 cents

Thanks for the compliments rich! Yeah, there is a bit more tube work to be done on her. As you said, the top of the cage isnt done yet, and im going to braze on some sheet metal for body pannels that will surely stiffen up the rest of the truck! I cant braze in my dorm room, so it looks like it will have to wait till spring break (this weekend). Anyone got any ideas about the links? I was thinking I could mount them to the body pannel that will beb on the sides, but was trying to come up with another way that would look cleaner...let me know!

For the links, I would de-braze the crossbracing on the floorpan at at the very front and back of the crawler, and put them in further towards the centreof the cage. Then you can have fair sized links and you've got some room to put link mounts on. Do you get what I mean?

Good job, look's like a whole bunch of work not using a bender and brazing every corner.

Ok, I have been thinking about how to mount my links, and this is what i have come up with. I will mount my body pannels and bolt the links directly to them...or possibly with a spacer so that they will clear the tube on the inside...

here are some pictures of what I am thinking...

Does anyone see any problems with it...or think it will work?!

Those crossbraces will get in the way of your links. There's no avoiding it, you're gonna have to move 'em!
