I have checked all of the threads for how to narrow a clod wheel but I still need to know if it is better to narrow the inside bead or the outside bead. I am building two crawlers at once so new rims and tires are not in the budget yet.:-(

Do you have clearance issues when turning? ARe you wanting your track width wider or narrower? Way are you narrowing them in the first place?

I don't have any clearance issues. I am narrowing them to get better sidewall bite. I just wanted to know what the most popular method is; narrow from the inside, making the track wider, or outside, making the track narrower. I am using the stock clod wheels and tires because I don't have enough money for new wheels and tires.

I narrowed mine on both sides of the rim... I did it to gain more inside cleareance so the tires wouldn't hit the link bars and to help with sidewall grip.
I just cut the bead part off and flipped it around and slid it back over the center of the rim. seems to work farily well for me...

I narrowed mine on the inside bead.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up narrowing the inside bead and so far it worked great. Now I need to finish the chassis and links so that I can see how everything will perform overall.
