Well I saw how Kevin does it, but I was looking for a more homebrew idea. Something I could make, not a freaky oversized rodend.

Kevins chassis is an awsome performer! I had a chance to drive it last saturday and was very impressed. there are many little things about the geometry that you just cant match without that rod end. That truck just feels like it drives itself.

"more homebrew"

Now that is funny! I can't imagine getting MORE home brew than the stick.

I can, but it is in the Keg in my fridge at home, and another batch in the tub bubbling away

Why don't you contact Kevin and he can give you the info. you want or he might sell some parts.

That would be the smart thing to do.

If you didn't know a 7/16-20 unc threads right into the top hole in the clod axles. I know this because my upper link axle mount is just a bolt with a hole drilled through the head.

I believe that kevin is using a thermoplastic 7/16 dia. hiem or rod end with a piece of 1/2" alum. rod that is turned down to 7/16 dia on each end and then tapped for a bolt to retain it.

McMaster #1064K25 ~8.15 ea.
Nylon-Composite Ball Joint Rod End Male,
7/16-20, 449 Pound Load Capacity

Now that is my best guess since I've only seen pictures of it and not that actual RC. and it took me quite a while to figure it out.

A cheap way to kinda simulate it would to buy a 7/16-20 bolt and cut the thread off and then weld a nut to the top of it and use a piece of allthread from axle to axle. Can you tell I've done this...... I couldn't find any 7/16 all thread so I used just used 3/8-16 nut and all thread. doing this simulated kevins design pretty good for me seeing what it could actually do.

How did you get teh bolt to stay in the servo-saver tube on the clod, a nut is too wide to fin on the bottom?

hey have you ever considered using wood just to practice building the stuff i know it sounds weird but you can file and turn stuff down way quicker using wood i actually use all hand tools until i have the design just right then make it out of metal

Yes I have thought about wood, but it wouldn't really help in this instance.

Default patent

Please remember some of these processes may be patented. So you may want to speak with Kevin to make sure you are not crossing any lines.

I should be receiving my "stick" tomarrow and will put some pics up when built.

Good Luck

I'm not trying to step on anyones toes here, but if a design/idea/concept is patented, that just means you can't produce the same thing to make profit from it. It doesn't stop you from copyng the idea for your own personal use.
