Default Pimp Cane exo-cage???

Has anyone tried to build an exo cage for a pimp cane chassis? Just wondering how you would mount the cage to the chassis. I was thinking of building the cage around a specific body so the cage would hold the body tightly and then just mount the cage to the chassis. Any Ideas or pics floating around out there?
Thanks,

Also should Pimp Canes have their own forum?? I not against the 4links or other chassis, it was just a thought.

I would think that the Exo would prevent the chassis from flexing to it's full potential, or the flex from the chassis would cause the Exo to flex and cause a joint to fail.

100% correct. It wouldn't flex at all. Matter of fact I think it would out alot stress on the cage and may break. Now if your wanting something close contact Double J.

It depends where you mount it. I reckon if you mounted it at two points very close together in the middle of the chassis, it could work.

That might work, but then when it flex's I;m not sure where the body and exo would flex. The body would still hit the exo and limit the flex. Since the body flex's with the chassis. Someone needs to just try it and see. All add this also. Drilling holes in the middle of the chassis is the best move. It will make the chassis weak in the middle and break if used hard.

I'd like to try it I have a very good idea in the works, but I lack the brazing ability, It'll take me along time to gather the stuff and afford it. Eventually I'm gonna do it.

Yes, please braze a steel cage to an aluminum backbone, then give me some money after you are rich from discovering how to make that work.

your best bet is to attack the cage to the body only or just not use one

If your gonna do anything like this, you might as well just build a tuber and be done. Putting an "exo" or cage around a stick chassis will destroy the one main advantage you have which is belly clearance and having a chassis thats only a 1/2" wide

Im a newbie, but wouldnt it be easier to put a cage on something like a stick that actually rotates around a joint instead of tryint to put it on something that twists?

Bigmaxx. I think I have an idea that may work using the body post locations on the pimp cane to attach an exo to it using sypherical bearings to allow the cane to "twist" and keep the exo ridgid.

Only problem is the cost of the bearings and it may need to mount a little higher than a traditional setup on one of these.

You could also try to use some sort of thick rubber bushing on most of the joints to allow it to twist some as well. Instead of brazing it would need to be assembled with bolts or have solid rod threaded on the ends and pass through the tubing. This would be the less desirable way to go though.

If I were to do it I'd need the cane or a duplicate (i.e. C channel with holes drilled in the exact locations) to build off of.

O.K. kamikaze . I thought you were talking to me. I have fixed the problem (deleted post) you do the same and it will be like it never happened. Gotta love the magic of the internet.

if you really want to bolt it to the chassis use fuel tubing in between the chassis and the bolts
