Default Hustler with Raptor axles...pics.

I've started my Hustler build using Raptor axles. I thought I'd share some pics. I have to shorten the links going to the upper link post of the axles to adjust the caster but other then that, they fit and look great!

Tom

Looks sweet. Is there anyway you can rotate those axle tubes to correct the angle of your knuckles? I haven't hear if you could just unbolt those 4 bolts and turn it and rebolt it.

That's what I'm talking about regarding the caster. The knuckles are angled incorrectly because the links that bolt onto the middle link post are a little bit too long....by shortening them it'll bring the caster back to a neutral position.

Instead, I could rotate the axle tubes but then I'd have to shorten the links that connect them to the chassis. Either way would work but the 1st option is less work

Yep, shortening the uppers a little bit would do ya right.

If you rotated the axle tubes and shortened the links then you would have better clearance to keep the motor out of harms way.

Nice build! The easiest would be to shorten the uppers, and retain ~ 17" wheelbase.

Keep the pics coming.

Sweet...maybe all you need to do is mount the bottom links to the bottom part of the knuckle rather than the top....looks like that is really throwing off things.

If you can rotate the axle enough to do a BTA that would be sweet. But then again it raises the COG....

Holy $$$$!
This thing is going to be sick! I don't think you could have chosen a better or more expensive chassis, axle, and motor combo. I love it.

Man, beatin those axles on the rocks would be hard to get used to. But I sure would be willing to try!

Looking great so far! I am anxious to hear how the axles handle the motors. You using 8t pinions? What is your planned voltage?

It's almost done. I'll have pictures soon.
I'm going to try the 8t pinion first (I have 6t if needed) and see how the 3013's like it. I'm going to keep the voltage on the low side....7.2v using high quality matched sub-c's to keep the speed down.

Strange.....I stopped getting e-mail notifications when a post was made here.....or else I would have replied much sooner.

Regards,
Tom

With the gearing of those axles the 3013's will not be happy! Well they will be once they start up, and then I'll bet something breaks! Ideally you will need to get the gearing around 60:1. Or plan on jumping stuff instead of crawling.

Default It's done!

I started a new thread. I shortened the upper links by 11mm to adjust the caster.

Brushless Hustler w/ Raptor axles. Finished!!
