| Are the raptor axles good!
I am currently looking into the raptor axles and portals, are these worth while parts to buy for my truck, they look very tough, and i am liking the idea of the protals, as well the entire steering kit is really nice so i am thinking of ordering this stuff in a couple weeks, i just want to know what peole think of them and if they are good axles, and if the protals are known to fail. I dont want to buy something that is going to break, any thoughts.......

I am just starting out, and had considered getting these too. I ended up with the stock clod axles, as they are cheaper and as parts wear out or break I can upgrade to a nicer part. The support base for the clod axles is much larger, Raptors are proprietary, in that they are only made by and supported by RC4WD, so if something breaks you must go back to them no matter what. If you want a steering kit, only one will work...RC4WD. Also, you can use CVDs and BTA steering with stock axles, not with the current Raptors (from my understanding the Raptor 2 that is soon to come out will have the ability to do both). I have to say though, that the Raptor is a very nice looking axle that seems to have bulletproof parts, so it may never break or have any issues. Just my 2 cents. |

im not to worried about the cvd's as the driveshafts are steel in the them, and i really am not a competitive driver, i just want to add something a little different and more strong to my truck, as well i am really liken the idea of the portals so i think that i might just try em out and see what i think, if they break they break, i cant change the fact that stuff breaks. I just want to have something that breaks less often thats all!

Let us know how you like them, I am still considering the Raptor 2's on whatever I make next, or if I upgrade the one I have now.
