4link4eva's comp clod tuber - Now with SideWinders, LiPo, and a stretch!

Well here it is. this is actually my second tuber, the first one wasn't as precise as I'd like, so being a true perfectionist, I started again.

I decided that I would take my time with this one (UK nationals aren't until July 28th) and get it spot on. I kind of got into the swing of it and, as usual, forgot about pics. Ignore the lumpy welds, still need to grind them back and tart them up.

Pics...

So...? ;-)

CrawlinClodKiller 05-06-2007 07:05 AM

Are those upper links bent alot. They look like it in the pics.

4link4eva 05-06-2007 07:07 AM

Yes, those upper links have been 'tweaked' out of the way of the shocks.

Well done for noticing, though... :)

CrawlinClodKiller 05-06-2007 07:14 AM

I can see they were bent for the shocks, but in the third pic they look like they are not parallel. That is what I meant. If one is higher that the other due to bend, won't it cause some suspension geometry issues.

4link4eva 05-07-2007 02:22 PM

Well, got the rear links done today...

Also, got the frame ground down and filled today, should get it painted tomorrow. :)

Crawler Noob 05-29-2007 10:36 PM

lol, i was thinking, that is some weird *** flex hes got there.

ClodMonster 05-30-2007 01:14 AM

Looks great, but dang that thing is tiny, i would have gone for a bigger chassis, kinda looks like kamikaze's chassis.

Yep, the chassis is intentionally small, so as to not get hung up on rocks so easily. But, having looked at this years rules, it's 2 1/2" too short. :-(

Really nice build.

4link4eva 06-18-2007 02:36 PM

Future plans:
New batteries on knuckles (7 cells)
Bigger reciever pack
Limit suspension flex (possibly heavier oil, too)
Bigger servo's
Smaller pinions

run2jeepn 06-18-2007 04:28 PM

Looks good.... Turned out better then I thought it would Nice job.... Limit that flex it's killing you.

Highmark 06-18-2007 04:32 PM

I dig it, definitely a unique tuber!

I was going to suggest you use a smaller servo horn, but I guess you already got to that  I bet those tires make a night and day difference over the stockers.

Thanks, that means a lot coming from you guys! :)
The stockers were only on there after I shredded the Junfac adapters. RC4WD ali ones have replaced them. :D
