Default H3's Super Class comp build.

My first public build. I'll call it MANTIS

Thought I'd share the new chassis design i'm building for comps here in washington.

The idea is performance/predictability of a GOOD 4 link with the flaoting and breakover clearance of a torsion/stick

4 link front and Locked, torsion, or shock/torsion rear.

Adj. wheelbase from about 16 to 18+ inches.

Front springs are dual inboard coils w/100wt oil. Allowing 1/4 uptravel 3/4 droop.

Raptor axles w/ Portals.

Still in mock-up stages. Here's what I've got done so far.

Got a base plate on it last night. Also got the rear servo mount on. Took a little tweaking but looks to hold up well.(didn't like the loss of clearance with the RC4WD option.
I'm going to try and figure out the BTA for the front tonight. I'll probably clock the axle's 45 degrees after initial testing then the BTA will be no problem.
Wheelbase is at 18inches. 1/2 increment changes by simple 3 bolts in rear(2 links and 1 backbone bolt.)
I get my 5995's today, and my Black Axial beadlocks(bling wheels are for mockup only)

I like the look of it but how is the rear torsion going to twist if the front gives with the 4 link. It seems to me that if the rear is ever going to flex the front will have to be at full stuff. I just don't see this being a predictable rig to drive with the front and rear suspensions not being matched at all.

Finally someone questions it.

Notice original post says "locked, torsion, or shock, torsion". The options to work are there in the design. The front 4 link works great. If you understand 4 links you can tell it will. As for the rear, 2 more links and it's totally locked out(I know this works, that's how my last rig was) Shocks on the rear would help dampen the "spring" effect of the chassis if it's unpredictable but honestly it's fairly stiff.. I will try it as-is first though.

Keep in mind the more cross brace's i put in it adjust's the torsion also.

Not sure if the torsion and link will work together but I'll find out. What I liked about the locked rear I had was it's ability to climb without sliding. The chassis has very little torsion so it will just let the rear "float a little rather than being completly stiff. Seems to me this will allow........I could go on and on but I have a rig to build.

Got some parts tonight. Axial spokes that need to be narrowed(these things are WIDE)
3 5995 servo's (one for the 2.2)
Moab xl's and mashers? I have so much clearance I think it might be worth running the mashers. I truly believe there a better tire for here, and easier on the axle's
